Hi-Rez Studios Announces the Next God in SMITE: Loki

31 October 2012 | No Comments » | Mordil

HiRez announced another god this morning, and it’s been the one I’ve been interested in since re-watching The Avengers just a week and a half ago: Loki.

This classical Rogue-esk character just might be up iTZKooPa’s alley.

They are eager to release this god, with the new game mode for SMITE which looks to be either Capture the Flag (I really hope so!) or a Deathmatch from the photo shared by HiRez today on Twitter shown to the right.

Here’s the video of their latest reveal; and continue reading for the text version of Loki’s passive and active abilities.

HiRez Announces This Week’s SMITE “Mega-Patch”

29 October 2012 | 3 Comments » | Mordil

The photo above from HiRez explains it all, along with the recent survey that went out from the team asking what the community would feel would be a great addition to the repertoire of the game. It definitely looks like the team wants to branch SMITE out from the normal MOBA experience with just 3 lanes, and I’m curious as to what new game mode this is.

Perhaps it’s a Capture the Flag type, or King of the Hill? The survey also included a Deathmatch mode, which would be pretty sick.

In terms of the god, people are speculating between Loki, and Apep. With the numbers split evenly between the two Pantheons  it could be either way. Given the Sword and Staff, I’m putting my money on Loki, since almost every Norse god has a sword on them (or dagger).

At any rate, HiRez is directing people to watch their stream every day at 3pm EDT to catch sneak peaks of the upcoming “MEGAPATCH” this week. You can watch the stream here.

What is everyone else’s thoughts? I’m pretty excited to see the future of SMITE beyond just normal lane MOBA gameplay.

17 October 2012 | No Comments » | Mordil

HiRez announced another god this morning, and it’s been the officially leaked goddess, Freya.

They were proud to show off sketchesZbrush renders, and polypainted renders of her via Facebook in celebration of 100,000 likes on their Facebook page, and after yesterday’s gameplay preview, it’s no wonder they revealed her today.

Here’s the video of their reveal; and continue reading for the text version of her passive and active abilities.

SMITE Updates to V0.1.1092.2 Adds Ares to the Arena With A Consumables Change

4 October 2012 | No Comments » | Mordil

HiRez released yet another patch today, the hotly awaited one that adds in Ares – Pun intended. You can check for a quick recap on Ares here.

Along with a bug fix on Bastet’s jump ability – which annoyed the hell out of me and makes me happy it’s fixed – and some changes to Sobek and Sun Wukong, most of the patch is Ares and some new skins. The special skin of note is the Sobek Pirate one, which cannot be purchased with Favor, and costs 600 gems to unlock.

Check out the full change log from HiRez themselves:

General Features:

  • CHANGES TO CONSUMABLES AND ABILITIES: There are now 2 consumable slots and 2 ability item slots (meaning you may now hold two different types of consumables at the same time). A button has also been added to “swap” slots on your abilities, for those wanting to keep an ability in the same slot (for consistency of key binding).
  • NEW EPIC SKIN (HIGH SEAS SOBEK): Say hello to a pirate-themed Sobek, along with his sidekick parrot.
  • ADDITIONAL NEW SKINS: Destroyer Ares, Typhoon Ao Kuang, Demon Slayer Kali, Death Dealer Sobek
  • RANKINGS: A “Top Ranked Players” stats page has been added under PROFILE in the menus. In addition, some adjustments have been made to the algorithms for ranking players in Ranked Matches. For fairness, the ranks of players have been re-adjusted to reflect the changes in the new system, based on their previous match history (so some players may see changes in their rank).
  • SPECTATOR: More spectator cleanups including a new process for viewing the match in the match lobby. Continue Reading

Blizzard Hotfixes #1 Mists of Pandaria Gearing Issue: Justice Points Tied to Reputation

2 October 2012 | 2 Comments » | Mordil

I’ve been level 90 since last Thursday early morning, and one of the first things I discovered was that I needed to grind rep up to Honored for each faction in order to spend Justice Points for gear.

I had done all the quests in Pandaria, and as a Human, the only reputation I was Honored with was the Klaxxi (awesome story and faction, by the way). I looked up the location of where I could find the hubs, and it led me to the Alliance base, Shrine of the Seven Stars.

Talking to the NPC gave me a quest to hit Revered with the Golden Lotus before talking to them. I said to myself “Ok.. this shouldn’t be too hard. About a few days worth of dailies should do it, right?” Continue Reading

SMITE Updates to v0.1.1080 Bringing Player Profiles and Vital Minotaur Changes

27 September 2012 | No Comments » | Mordil

Today, HiRez released a new patch for SMITE to keep the development rolling. Today’s update brings important-to-note changes to the Minotaur, such as increased damage done while defensive structures are still up.

Here’s the list of changes directly from the developer team:

General Features:

  • Players may now view their recent match history and other statistics in-game from the Profile menu. This is a VERY EARLY version of the player profile functionality. Additional functionality and refinements will be coming in future releases.
  • New “God Killed God” accolades have been added when a player is killed.
  • Several cleanups and fixes have been made to the Joust gamemode, including:
    • Proper character cards on the loading screen.
    • The ability for Joust matches to be spectated (for those with access to the spectate functionality).
    • Ability to chat with your opponent in game.
    • If you disconnect from the match, you can now reconnect.
    • Buff camps have been adjusted to be more balanced.
  • Gods may not be rented if you are playing in a Ranked match.
  • For the first approx. one to two weeks after their release, new gods will not be rentable in Normal matches, and they will not be playable in Ranked matches.
  • There have been a variety of updates to the spectator mode.
  • Fixed issue with watch tutorial popping up multiple times. Continue Reading
