this mmo is best left off your download list at this time the conflict between switching to free to play and leaving in the pay to play is taking a toll on the game. im sure turbine will come up with a solution befor to long . rules game play and toon stats continue to change with each update , this is starting to look like a patch trend . in order to play your toon to the best you now need to buy cash shop items after each update {free to play and pay to play alike} i dont see where this trend will boost subscribers or entice free to play players to the game caution free to play is blocked to a few areas with only access to these areas lvl 12 is the highest you can reach, out of 20 lvls. you can get free points {25 points per 100 favor} to buy areas yet to do so on free to play would involve 14 months of 7 days a week 4-6 hours of grinding per day. if you find this to be to much of a commitment for a game {i dont blame you} maybe a more open free to play would be better for you.

After a few updates the conflict has begun to ease up, albeit slowly. The devs have promised both free and premium content updates and the difficulty levels now allow casual players. One thing to note is that DDO as in the original D&D game it is geared to team play and thus not readily friendly to solo play. Likewise the bonus ddo points are earned faster when done in a group, though still represents a grinding commitment. However, while team play is at the same time DDO's biggest strength and issue, it is surely one of the elements that adds to the challenge and enjoyment of the game. That'd be on top of a very good real time combat system. D&D fans might miss the vast width of the PnP game yet experience a good action packed challenge in what should still be a familiar setting. Players new to D&D may want to begin their journeys in the newest server 'Orien' where all new players are welcome.
