If you’re drooling for a spot in the Cataclysm Beta as much as we are here at Lore Hound, wipe that foam from your mouth. Blizzard announced today that it will soon be adding a whole bunch of players to the beta based solely on a short essay in which you explain why you should get it.
Here’s the official announcement:
If it’s a World of Warcraft beta test, you can bet that we’ll be searching for a large and diverse crowd of enthusiastic players to help us develop the best gameplay experience possible.
For World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, we’re looking for a healthy handful of guilds to join us in the beta test process. If you think your guild would supply the perfect candidates for testing the limits of Cataclysm’s content and systems, tell us why!
All you have to do is send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org containing a short essay between 50 and 250 words explaining why we should bring you and nine of your guild mates on-board.
We’ll be picking 100 winning submissions from eligible participants each week for five weeks beginning Monday, June 7th through Monday, July 12th.
Before entering the contest, be sure to read the full contest rules for details and eligibility.
Let’s do a little math. 100 entries a week x 5 weeks = 500 winning submissions x 10 players per submission = 5,000 lucky players.
That may not be much compared to the millions who play the game, but it’s still something! Perhaps everyone who entered our manga contest can put those writing skills to use again.
Writing not your thing? Don’t forget to opt-in for the beta for another shot. Or make friends with a talented guildie. Or hire me. (just kidding ;) my skillz are already claimed!)
Don’t forget to read the rules — there are a few KEY items you’ll want to know about.
- Only open to US residents (sorry EU — maybe you’ll get your own contest) . Also, not open to residents of North Dakota, Vermont, Connecticut or Maryland (phew, at least for me.)
- You must have a fully upgraded WotLK account in good standing.
- You must be a guild master of a guild with at least 10 members (or if you’re not, make sure that they’re the one who sends in the entry)
- Entries must be English and within the given word count (the probably won’t be as lenient as we were!)
So what will you write about? And if you won, what would you test out first?
