MicroVolts Announced

Rock Hippo has announced MicroVolts, a new third person shooter MMO. Well, new to the North American and Europe market, the game is actually a localized version of H.A.V.E. Online, a game which was criticized for resembling Valve’s Team Fortress 2 a bit too much. Anyway, the game focuses heavily on PvP matches in small arenas where players are able to choose between two teams. The release date is still unknown.

  1. Microvolts kicks TF2s proverbial ass. Everyone has all weapon types at all times, and the 3rd person view changes things quite a bit as far as seeing around corners and looking behind you. The taunts are way better than TF2 and the upgrades allow you to customize to suit your playing style, not just choose from a set list of vastly different character classes. Just because its a cartoon multi-player shooting experience doesn’t make it a “clone” or a derivative. Think of this as the natural evolution to TF2. Recommend everyone head on over to Microvolts.com. Get your beta key!

“Everyone has all weapon types at all times”

How is this good? It kills team balance.

“3rd person view changes things quite a bit as far as seeing around corners and looking behind you.”

Seeing around corners is NOT fair in FPS games.

“The taunts are way better than TF2”

Because taunts make or break a good game.

“… the upgrades allow you to customize to suit your playing style, not just choose from a set list of vastly different character classes.”

Oh, so y’know, it’s not like the whole item drop system (which Valve finally expanded on into a market and trade system) allows you to customize your gameplay. (I’m starting to get the feeling that you’re a developer for MicroVolts or a complete fanboi, because obviously you haven’t played TF2.)

“Just because its a cartoon multi-player shooting experience doesn’t make it a “clone” or a derivative.”

You’re right. What makes it a clone is that it’s a class-based cartoon multi-player shooting experience with cloned weaponry, “ubercharges” of sorts, and a trailer that was completely mocked for being a shot-for-shot remake of TF2 trailers, among numerous other similarities that make it more of just a coincidence.

“Think of this as the natural evolution to TF2.”

Oh, so it IS a derivative. Good logic there.

“Recommend everyone head on over to Microvolts.com. Get your beta key!”

Yep, you’re either a developer or a fanboi.
