SMITE: Demigods, Deities and Gods Explained is a new column dedicated to introducing prospective players of SMITE to its massive back story of lore. From the Greek to Hindu, each week we’ll look at two characters from a major pantheon and provide a quick recap of their history and in what capacity their digital incarnation will represent on the field of Hi-Rez Studios’ upcoming MOBA.
Lore: Called the “All Father,” Odin’s history, like many from his pantheon, is deep, complex and contains numerous words that will blow your mind. As the principal member of the Æsir, Odin is associated with a multitude of important facets of Norse life, including war, victory, death, magic and more docile occupancies like wisdom, poetry and prophecy. Often depicted as an old man with a long beard, Odin’s libido never faltered. Taking his name seriously, the “All Father” has numerous sons, Thor being the most famous.
