Instance Gratification 27: What’s This Korean MMO with No Healer? (Giveaway)

5 May 2015 | No Comments » | Patrick "iTZKooPA" Mulhern

lh_instance_gratification_echo_of_soul_holy_trinityInstance Gratification is the return of one of our premiere video outings. Originally featuring the cast of founder bloggers thrashing World of Warcraft dungeons and viewer runs of Dungeon & Dragons Online, the reinvigorated column heads to the realm of the Twitch channel. Come join us every Tuesday for dungeon dives, solo attempts and general loot hoarding in your favorite games.

Aeria Games isn’t a new publisher to my ears. Despite repeated introductions and multiple demo sessions for various products over the years nothing the publisher has brought to my shore has piqued my interest. Not exactly true, but certainly not enough for me to abandon other avenues of escapism. This is changing thanks to a little ditty called Echo of Soul from South Korean developer Nvius.

It’s certainly not the eastern style that’s of interest. Or the mix of PvP options from small scale battle to Guild vs. Guild open world brawls. Cool that Echo of Soul has many PvP options. Perhaps open world PvP may be a distraction. What really interests me, especially on the heels of being bored with my World of Warcraft priest, is that EoS lacks the holy trinity. There’s no priest, paladin or any other dedicated support. Instead the game is holy tanks and DPS with healing being a party responsibility through strategy.

We’ll see just how realistic this is while we take the game for a spin. There’s another reason to watch outside putting our toes in the Aeria Games water. That is we’re giving away a few Founder’s Packs during the stream. Valued at $50 it includes a Golden Tiger Mount, a Brown Baby Llama pet, a 10 slot bag, and numerous buff potions. Naturally, during my journey as a Soulkeeper we’ll investigate other areas of the free to play MMORPG from monetization to character customization.

Be sure to subscribe to the channel for all our streams, giveaways and general shenanigans. Hit the jump for the livestream, which is scheduled to kick off by 7:00 PM EST and run for an eventful two hours. Continue Reading

Browser-based Action RPG Everlight Enters Open Beta

12 March 2013 | No Comments » | Patrick "iTZKooPA" Mulhern

Looking for a new action RPG to sink some time into? Everlight, the latest fantasy action RPG from F2P developer KoramGame may suit your fancy. After spending an extended period of time in its closed beta phase, the title is heading to open beta on Thursday, March 14.

Set in a fantasy world, the title takes a slice out of crafting of The Secret World acknowledging that they myths and folklore we’re familiar with are a reality. Focused on four main classes, players will hack-and-slash their way through Atlantis. Heavily influenced by Eastern cultures and game design, Everlight includes an anime art style, customization and rather quirky features like a Horoscope system.

“We had a superb CBT with over 10,000 participants who really helped us iron out the bugs and improve the game to provide smoother game play. There were plenty of bugs so it wasn’t an easy job and we really appreciate all the time, effort and feedback from everyone who participated in the CBT.” said Everlight General Manager, Jiming Zhao. “We’re now moving forward to the Open Beta and after the success of the CBT we can’t wait open the servers for our fans.”

Hit the jump for a handful of screenshots, especially useful since the English-language website hasn’t been fleshed out as of press. Continue Reading

RaiderZ Teases Boss Encounter Ahead of Closed Beta

2 August 2012 | No Comments » | Patrick "iTZKooPA" Mulhern

We hope you grabbed a Closed Beta key for RaiderZ from the Lore Hound promotion before they went, because the testing is about to begin. Just ahead of the CBT, Perfect World Entertainment is teasing the story behind an early boss encounter. The Goblin Golem is an abominable construct controlled by goblin magic that has ravaged the local countryside.

The trailer provides a detailed look at gameplay and how players must alter their strategy for every boss encounter. Reaction time is key if your group expects to take down the goblin-controlled behemoth. Of note is the coliseum environment the battle is done in. It appears that most of these encounters will see battle done in a quarantined area.

Check out the Goblin Golem trailer after the break.

World of Warplanes Closed Beta Date Announced

22 May 2012 | No Comments » | Mike revealed today the World of Warplanes will be entering closed beta on May 31st, in about nine days from now.

Since WoWP’s Global Alpha launch on February 23, it has secured more than 600,000 applications, with 100,000 received within the first 24 hours. Those that applied to the alpha will receive priority over new sign-ups, so if you didn’t sign-up yet and want a chance at the CBT, you better signup asap.

I was never a fan of World of Tanks, just too slow for me, but I love aerial fighter games, so I can’t wait to try this out.

Guild Wars 2 Beta Invites are Being Sent Out!

17 March 2012 | 7 Comments » | Mike

The time has finally come as ArenaNet has begun sending out its closed beta invites for Guild Wars 2.

If you didn’t get one yet, there’s still hope, as invites will be continued to be sent out over the next few days.

As with any closed beta, ArenaNet does have an active non-disclosure agreement (NDA), so there won’t be a flurry of videos and new info as there was with the press weekend last month.

I just hope WvsWvsW will be available when the beta begins.

After the Guild Wars 2 press beta event this past weekend (I’m sure you’ve read and watched your fill of GW2 goodness), and now it seems players will get a chance to partake in the next round of testing.

ArenaNet has opened closed beta signups for the next 48 hrs, so if you want a chance at getting into the next beta tests: hurry up and signup on ArenaNet’s site. There’s no guarantee you will be selected, but it’s better than nothing.
