Neverwinter Still Recovering from Eruption of Mount Hotenow

12 February 2013 | No Comments » | iTZKooPA

The city of Neverwinter has been battered in its recent history. First, there was the Spellplague, which it survived relatively unscathed to the rest of the Forgotten Realms. Mother Nature wasn’t having any of that, unleashing to full power of Mount Hotenow upon the shaken city. Nearly obliterated, the city has spent decades rebuilding in Hotenow’s shadow.

That’s decades, plural, because creatures of the night, from the undead to orcs and the slumbering Primordial have been keeping the buildings and small folks busy. That leaves the mess up to the heroes of Neverwinter to deal with for the city to return to its former glory.

Check out our recent Neverwinter Closed Beta preview and be sure to snag the Founder’s pack if it suits your fancy.

Neverwinter: Devoted Cleric Revealed Last But Playable First

8 February 2013 | No Comments » | iTZKooPA

I can haz healz?

In a clear case of “You’re doing it wrong!” Cryptic Studios decided to officially unveil the fifth launch class for the action-oriented MMORPG Neverwinter. The Devoted Cleric, the pure healing end of the holy trinity, has finally received a class reveal trailer to partner up with the four other classes. That’s emphasised for the fact that it’s one of three classes currently playable in this weekend’s press/Founder closed beta session.

Sure to spend most of its time healing, the Devoted Cleric is a master of holy spells, capable of preventing and repairing damage. With numerous direct, shared and healing-over-time abilities, a woman (or man) of the cloth is a requirement for every major confrontation. That doesn’t mean The Devoted One can’t contribute otherwise. Capable of wielding the light for crowd control and area-of-effect holy damage, the Devoted Cleric can make an impact on the damage meter.

Simply put, traversing the world of Neverwinter will be difficult without such an ally.

Check out our beta preview and live stream for more on Neverwinter. The full Devoted Cleric trailer and additional screenshots are after the cut. Grab a Founder’s Pack to get into the beta immediately. Continue Reading

Perfect World Entertainment and Cryptic Studios are happy to announce that a large swatch of gamers will finally be able to get their hands on Neverwinter this coming weekend. Initiating the action-oriented MMORPG’s first beta session means the company can finally make good on those that purchased RaiderZ packs for easy access to the latest Dungeons & Dragons-based MMOG.

The beta session begins for everyone on Friday, February 8 and runs for 60 hours until Sunday, February 10. The lengthy window will give “thousands of players” a chance to tackle content up to level 30, three classes (healer, tank and melee DPS), a swath of dungeons like Blackdagger Keep, and large-scale group events. Oh, and the highly-anticipated user-generated content system, the Foundry.

We’ll be celebrating the upcoming beta a little early. Stay tuned to this space and the LoreHound.com TwitchTV account to join us in an early access beta session beginning at 3:30 PM EST.

Triple Dip of Defiance; Trailer, Beta 2 & Launch Date!

31 January 2013 | No Comments » | iTZKooPA

The marketing for Defiance is in full giddy-up mode. The open-world shooter and TV/video game hybrid from Trion Worlds, with Syfy handling the TV shenanigans, will be launching April 2, 2013. That’s 13 days ahead of the show’s debut on Syfy on April 15. But there’s so much to do before then!

First off, you’ll probably want to take a look at the brand-spanking new live action trailer. This flesh-filled trailer is for the game, not the TV show, which is set in St. Louis. The trailer features the post-apocalyptic settings, clothing, vehicles and weaponry we can expect. Heck, even a dynamic event. Not to mention a healthy dose of xenophobia and action. You can catch the 5+ minute trailer it in its HD glory after the cut.

If you can wait that long, then you’ll be happy to know that Advanced Mission Beta 2 launches on Friday, February 8 at 8:00 AM PST and run until Sunday, February 10 at 9:00 PM PST. Beta participants will be trouncing around San Francisco making full use of the new Arkfall code reward system.

Yeap, in-game rewards before it’s even launched. Myll Erik, the Defiance Community Manager, has also updated the forum with an official pre-order FAQ. Continue Reading

Age of Wushu To Miss February 1 Launch, Moved to Spring 2013

25 January 2013 | No Comments » | iTZKooPA

The headline says it all really. Age of Wushu, a F2P martial arts MMORPG, has been pushed back from its February 1 launch day until the much larger window of Spring 2013. Steeped in ancient Chinese history and mythology, or Wuxia, Snail Games has postponed the Age of Wushu’s release based on closed beta feedback.

This will allow us to better address community feedback and continue to update the game. When a more precise update on the release timing is available, we will share that information.

That is essentially all we’ve got. As of press time, we’ve no details of exactly what Snail Games is looking to correct, what we can expect for future testing or even what areas of the game will see the majority of polish. It’s possible to speculate from community feedback, but given the breadth of it, Snail Games could go in numerous directions.

Hit the jump for our exclusive introductory interview to the Wuxia-based MMORPG. Continue Reading

The Elder Scrolls Online Beta Sign-ups, New Trailer Live

22 January 2013 | 1 Comment » | iTZKooPA

First things first. You can sign-up for a shot at The Elder Scrolls Online beta access here. ZeniMax Online points out that the more optional information you’re willing to provide, the higher the chance you have at gaining beta access. Methinks being older and of the female persuasion may provide additional roll bonuses, but that’s a complete guess. Definitely provide your computer specs with DxDiag though.

Coupled with the ability to sign up for a chance to play TESO, the company has released a new trailer focusing on Alliances. A fantastic trailer set in a fantasy world with swords and sorcery, there’s very little specific details or information to connect the 5+ minute CGI video to the massive universe of The Elder Scrolls.

That’s probably a bad attribute. Check it after the cut and be sure to leave your opinion on the matter. Continue Reading

Trions Worlds & Crytek Kick Off Warface Beta Testing

18 January 2013 | No Comments » | iTZKooPA

Talk about a beta weekend. Between the first beta of Defiance, the third beta of Transformers Universe and now the free-to-play AAA shooter Warface, gamers are going to have a busy weekend. No matter what your favored time sink may be, as long as it involves killing other animate objects, this weekend has it for you, for free!

The announcement came late last night, revealing that the graphical gem has moved to its Closed Beta phase. Neither Crytek nor Trion Worlds has given a definitive launch date. Rather the companies are expecting the community to shape the game ahead of launch, allowing for a flexible schedule.

Well, here’s what Dirk Metzger, the GM of Publishing for Crytek had to say on the matter:

“We look forward to making the experience even more engaging as waves of pre-registered players are invited to join the closed beta and play their part in shaping Warface ahead of its final launch.”

Currently, FPSers can salivate over a Spring 2013 window. Beta applicants are still being accepted.
