The First Twenty Hours: War of the Immortals Review

20 December 2011 | 1 Comment » | Randy Denosha

War of the Immortals, which went live over the weekend, is the latest from free-to-play specialist Perfect World Entertainment. PWE should sound familiar. The growing Chinese company is responsible for publishing multiple titles on this side of the pond, including Perfect World, Forsaken World and Rusty Hearts, backed by numerous content patches for each.

Character Selection: The character selection screen looks quite nice and polished. Nothing unexpected from a PWE title. It has a nice temple in the background and the hellbears are certainly not misplaced. Right of the bat, the player can choose from a relatively high eight different classes, each of course specializing in its own unique gameplay. All characters definitely do look flashy when the player is choosing one, showing how their aesthetic design can look at the end of the leveling curve. Continue Reading

Blacklight Retribution: Let’s Get Feelie

14 November 2011 | No Comments » | iTZKooPA

It took me awhile to notice, but a bit of swag I scored at PAX 2011 had a nice little touch to it. The black zip-up hoodie “earned” at the Perfect World booth not only has a patch donning the left shoulder, but it’s attached by the noisiest form of fashion, velcro.

Why do you care? Well, if PWE would sell the hoodie, which is an awesome one, the company could easily extend its microtransaction model to the flesh universe, expanding the knowledge of Blacklight Retribution even further.

Check out the video for more details.

Should PWE produce physical items as part of their microtransaction system?

A Quick Introduction To Transformers Universe

20 October 2011 | No Comments » | iTZKooPA

Announced by Jagex Games Studios and Hasbro awhile back, little has come to light of Transformers Universe. We knew it would feature the two seminal factions duking it out in a free-to-play browser-based title, but frankly, that was all that was delivered. Thanks to a new trailer and Jagex visiting its first trade show in New York Comic Con, we’ve pried all the details the company was willing to deliver, and then some!

iTZKooPA located Laura West, the Global PR Manager, and dug right in. Lore, gameplay, expectations, over 11,000 transformers, a twenty to thirty year outlook, an early look at character creation and a visit from Bumblebee make this an interesting one.

The First Twenty Hours: Rusty Hearts Review

7 October 2011 | No Comments » | Randy Denosha

Rusty Hearts, currently in Open Beta, is being crafted by Stairway Games in conjunction with Perfect World Entertainment. PWE should sound familiar. The growing Chinese company is responsible for publishing multiple titles on this side of the pond, including Perfect World and Forsaken World. Rusty Hearts is a massive multi-player, fast paced brawling game. Confused? Check out iTZKooPA’s introductory video from a few weeks back

Go, I’ll wait.

After spending about twenty hours in the game I am still going and haven’t hit the cap yet (considering that on October 11 the cap will get raised to thirty). I gave all three playable character a spin, the fourth has yet to unlock.

Character Selection: So let’s dive right into the character selection screen. Immediately when you have chosen your server you wanna play on you’ll see four different characters walking. Each of them use one of two weapons they start with and at level 10 they gain the skill to use the second. Frantz uses a sword or axe, Angela uses a magic sword or scythe and Tude uses gauntlets or claws. You choose one of these characters. There is no customizing whatsoever though (customizing happens in game in the form of costumes). It’s an unusual twist for an Eastern-developed game to lack initial customization. The change in schema is was made to allow Rusty Hearts to focus on character development by way of story.

Global Agenda: If (Recursive Colony = True) Then Introduce It; Else Impatient++

On September 21st, Hi-Rez Studios released the much-anticipated free expansion Recursive Colony onto the live servers for its popular MMO shooter, Global Agenda. Recursive Colony is Global Agenda’s largest content update to date and its first major expansion since the game went free-to-play.

Recursive Colony is centered around the idea that the  humans of Dome City are being attacked by a hive-minded army of robot-building robots bent on the destruction of humans, and yes, I am very close to making a reference to the Terminator series. The new hive mind doesn’t just add a few new instanced missions and some flairs. That wouldn’t do for the cluster’s grandiose plans. Instead, an entire new zone, PvP maps, and daily repeatable missions will keep players coming back for more.

Good thing the resources are apparently infinite.

“North Sonora,” the new zone added to Global Agenda’s map, holds the shooter’s major new content. By popular demand, the developer added in a series of chain quests and repeatable quests to give players something to focus on besides the grind of instanced PvE/PvP missions. These quests can either be done by solo agents or in teams. Depending on the mission, players may find themselves exploring the open world or sent with a band of your friends into a Skyne- I mean Recursive Colony -hive to take the fight to the machines. Behind the Lore of The Secrets of the Artificers

21 September 2011 | No Comments » | iTZKooPA

Fernando Paiz takes iTZKooPA down the windy path of the home turf for House Cannith, the technological epicenter in Dungeon & Dragon Online. The city nestled into a mountain side is not as humble as it appears. Something lurks beneath the incredible inventions of the house. Something sinister. A force that is threatening the technology hub. The force now yields untold powers. It must be dealt with. The house has been incapable of eradicating the Lord of Blades itself and has begun searching for outside help.

That’s where you come in, fearless adventurer.

The Dungeon Master: The Artificer Class

19 September 2011 | 1 Comment » | Randy Denosha

If you have been living under a rock you may not have noticed that the newest update has hit the live servers of Dungeons and Dragons Online. Naturally, I bought the currently-pay-only Artificer class and created an elf artificer that is based on the mighty repeating crossbow. After the first couple of dungeons, I noticed one thing that stuck with me till the end – the new class is a pretty power-playing class. At least, that is what I have noticed from it in my build that I did. The build focuses on the crossbow and supporting it. My feats were selected to maximize crossbows, and are support by healing spells and/or buffing spells. Let’s not forget my little Iron Defender – the first pet available in DDO – you get as an Artificer. He handles the tanking aspect of battle. This combination is quite the power full one. As of this posting – knocks on wood – I haven’t died once. In some dungeons the pitiful monsters haven’t even scratched my armor!
