The daring Lore Hounds will be back inside Turbine’s free-to-play MMORPG (no, not that one) for Instance Gratification: DDO Episode 6 on Sunday, June 6 at 11:00 AM 12:00 PM (noon) EST. Khyber is the server of choice. Please be sure to complete the tutorial area and dungeon before go time. That means you should have at least arrived at the Harbor of Stormreach. Level 3 would be appreciated, while level 4 is recommended. We’re going to attempt to complete Waterworks, then venture to a new area.
Due to myself having outside obligations, the group has taken a bit of a hiatus. In fact, it’s likely to continue after Episode 6, because I’ll be busy representing the Lore Hounds at E3 2010! Be sure to jump in before the summer break.
Shoot me a tweet or drop a comment in the post if you want to be in the top six. I currently have a warforged cleric (iTZKooPA) and a halfling bard (iTZKHuPA). Supplies of DDO Point cards are nearly gone, but still available to those that attend!
[Update]
I forgot to re-install DDO since replacing my boot drive. The start time has been pushed back an hour to accommodate downloading and installing.
That’s right folks. The amazing transformation of Dungeon & Dragons Online to the free-to-play model is going to be replicated. Turbine (and its pair) is going to attempt to pull off the feat for a second time. The developer will be launching a huge update to Lord of the Rings Online “this fall” that will complete the metamorphosis. Interested parties will be able to partake in a beta program starting on June 16 (the second day of E3). Head over to the official site for details.
The upcoming LotRO Store appears to be a clone of the DDO Store:
LOTRO will introduce Turbine’s innovative new pricing model that allows players to download the game and play for free, purchase expansions, quest packs, items, and account services a la carte from the new LOTRO Store, or join the VIP program to get unlimited access to all of the game’s content for one low price.
Considering the DDO Store saved DDO, even dramatically increasing its subscriber base, the new LotRO Store is a no brainer. The transformation will be global.
No word on a name change.
And I have to ask, how pissed are the lifetime subscribers going to be?
Sony Online Entertainment will once again be trying its hand at an MMO set in the Star Wars Universe withStar Wars: Clone Wars Adventures. This time, the game will be more along the lines of Free Realms than Star Wars Galaxies, as it will be free-to-play and will include a collection of mini-games for players to experience as a Padawan, Jedi, or Clone Trooper.
Mini-games that are already being hyped include Lightsaber dueling, speeder bike racing, tower defense, and a starship shooter. In addition to the mini-games, players will get access to in-game housing and customizable pet droids.
Based on the popular, younger skewing Clone Wars animated series, Clone Wars Adventures promises to deliver to a different audience than that other highly anticipated Star Wars MMO. Check out the gallery after the break for a taste of what Clone Wars Adventures will be offering and head to the official site to see the video trailer.
Due to some technical difficulties two weekends ago, last weekend’s Episode 6 has been bumped up to Episode 5. This week sees the Lore Hounds heading into the early parts of Waterworks, once again meeting up with some angry kobolds. A smaller group of hounds meeting the Gnashtooth Clan, an angrier and more strategic group of kobolds, caused some fails. To say the least.
Episode 6 will happen (again) on Sunday, May 23 and is currently scheduled for an 11:00 AM EST start time on the Khyber server. Please complete the tutorial questline of Korthos Island (final adventure detailed here), otherwise you will not be eligible for a group invite.
Prospective attendees should drop a line below so we can gauge the expected attendance. Include your class if you’ve already decided upon one. I will not be in attendance. Look for Amatera on halfling rogue named Amatera or Juggynaut for an invite.
[Ed. Note - Gnarltooth Clan is mentioned in the video. The squad actually fought the Gnashtooth clan]
iTZKooPA is back in the lead for Instance Gratification: DDO Episode 6 on Sunday, May 16 at 11:00 AM EST. Khyber is the server of choice. Please be sure to complete the tutorial area and dungeon before go time. That means you should have at least arrived at the Harbor of Stormreach. Waterworks is this the target this weekend. Supplies of DDO Point cards are nearly gone, but still available to those that attend! Spots in the primary group are open as of this posting.

Ah, kobolds. You are simply a people of oversized rats with all the anger and none of the brains. Your affection for candles, treasure or plain junk is nothing short of staggering. But I will receive my payment. I will fulfill my duty to some guy above ground.
Do not through your lives away, for I have with me a band of merry men known as the Lore Hounds. They hunger to use their skills of graveyard running, trap tripping and the unprecedented ability to fail upon you. Fear us, for we know not why we are here, just that you and your clansmen possess a knack for hiding treasure. And XP. Delicious XP.

The Lore Hound DDO crew meet again last Sunday to thin out the kobold population. Despite having a well-rounded team, including Amatera to disable traps, the party hit its first major roadblock when defending Stormreach from an endless invasion (200 is endless IMO) of kobold critters. We struggled through it, but hilarity ensued. Take a gander.
Episode 5 will happen on Sunday, May 9 and is currently scheduled for an 11:00 AM EST start time on the Khyber server. It’ll be Amatera’s first turn at the helm. In his honor, let’s make sure there are tons of players online to make my Sunday job look as difficult as possible. Please complete the tutorial questline of Korthos Island (final adventure detailed here), otherwise you will not be eligible for a group invite. Supplies of DDO Point cards are highly limited, but still available to those that attend!

Lore Hound’s band of merry men (and the androgynous Warforged) completed Korthos Island this weekend. After nearly a dozen hours, around a half dozen adventures, three levels and numerous trips to class trainers, the Instance Gratification team completed Dungeons & Dragons Online: Eberron Unlimited’s lengthy starting zone. This week’s video closes with a first look at what lies ahead, Stormreach and a ridiculous amount of more adventures.
Episode 4 will once again happen on Sunday, and is currently scheduled for an 11:00 AM EST start time on the Khyber server. Please be sure to complete the tutorial questline of Korthos Island, otherwise you will not be eligible for a group invite. We’ll be clearing the first few dungeons in the harbor district for Episode 4. Supplies of DDO Point cards are limited, but still available to those that attend!
Don’t forget, Turbine is currently having a huge sale on Adventure packs in the DDO Store. Amatera and I both picked up a pair of adventure packs that contain over 10 adventures in total. All for less than the 500 point cards Lore Hound is giving away!
