And the Neverwinter server instability woes continue to be fixed at a remarkable pace. I continue to be just astonished at the rate of communication and effort the devs are putting forth to deal with the various connectivity issues players are experiencing. The servers have just been brought down again, for an expected 2 hour maintenance, with still more stability fixes. If you’ve had a difficult time getting into dungeons, skirmishes or PvP – rejoice! They continue to focus on these issues, and today’s patch brings us more fixes. Hopefully this frenzy continues! I have to say that each patch is definitely and noticeably improving my game experience – I actually managed to join not one, but 5 skirmishes yesterday during a skirmish event.
I am playing on the Dragon shard, and I was impressed when there was a response to the problem within minutes. The server went down, I went to the Neverwinter Facebook page, hit refresh, and there was an update letting me know that they were aware of the issue and looking into it. I very much laud the communication coming from Cryptic/PWE in this regard, and hope to see it continued.

Be happy I didn't use a silence pun.
Perfect World Entertainment unveiled Broken Silence, the first expansion for its monster hunting MMORPG RaiderZ. The MAIET Entertainment developed expansion will be released “soon.” That’s literally all we’ve been given as far as a time frame. Going by the announcement, the expansion may be focused towards the high-level players, which have easily hit the level cap of level 30 since the November release.
Granted, that won’t be the level cap for much longer. Broken Silence will push RaiderZ players to level 40 “soon.” In addition to the typical cap increase, “soon” players will be able to partake in new unique monster battles “piece by piece”, duke it out in an updated PvP battle system and “much more.”
“Players have been asking for more content – and that’s something that we wanted to address with the upcoming launch of RaiderZ: Broken Silence,” says Senior Producer Mark Hill. “The Grand Wall of Silence has fallen. Now, the Kingdom of Rendel and its citizens face a new threat from the north. I can’t wait to share more details about this expansion. Expect more info very soon.”
Hit the jump for the first screenshots to come from Broken Silence and stay tuned for an exclusive interview with Mark Hill. It’ll be up “soon.” Continue Reading

Elf or Half-elf if I want to be a cleric. Ugh.
Leave it to the Internet to ruin a marketer’s plan. For Western audiences, Perfect World Entertainment and Perfect World Europe have been slow playing the reveals for Neverwinter. Details, from zones to lore to features, have been trickling out from the companies. The latest being the Control Wizard class reveal.
Perfect World’s homesquad in China was having none of that. MMOCulture revealed that Perfect World Beijing will be publishing two titles from the United States, Neverwinter and, a bit surprising, Dota 2. Not only would Dota 2 be the first MOBA and eSports-friendly title from Perfect World, but it’s a major victory considering its growing popularity. Neverwinter, being developed by PWE-owned Cryptic Studios, is more of a no brainer.
Perfect World Beijing instantly began marketing the title, revealing details we have not heard of yet. Hit the jump for the world map, and a gallery with the class and race mix, including one previously unannounced class. Continue Reading

Okay, it’s name is too long to keep rollin’ with Jay-Z. At any rate, Cryptic Studios has had enough with the whole wordsmithing promotion angle and gone straight to the lazy man’s gutshot, video promotion. The development house has unleashed the first trailer for New Romulus – Season 7 that showcases the latest massive content patch for Star Trek Online.
Applied to STO just yesterday, the patch includes the first look at endgame itemization, adds new Borg, Vesta-class starships, a collection of new missions, new modes of progression and the continuation of the epic Romulun storyline.
Hit the jump for a trailer that is as alluring as all the women of the Star Trek universe. Yes, even the ones in 1980s spandex. Continue Reading

Lightning bolt!
The city of Rietz, pronounced ‘Ritz’ like the cracker, will be home to most players in RaiderZ. As the land of Rendel’s largest city and social hub to crucial NPCs, the city is a sight to behold. Well, so long as you stay above ground. For creatures far more sinister lurk, scavenge and rule the world beneath the metropolis.
Teased during the zone’s introduction, Perfect World Entertainment has revealed the MMORPG’s first high-level dungeon, Rietz Sewer, in the latest trailer. What was once a simple civil service, the sewers became the home for rebellious groups. Rather than ferreting out the perpetrators, the city leaders decided to simply lock the ne’er do wells in. Effectively ending if not at least isolating the problem.
Unfortunately, the sewers are home to far more than talks of rebellion. With the war raging on outside the city walls, all able bodies are needed to defend Rietz. Talks of political change can happen once the Jewel of Rendel is saved.

After a lengthy Closed Beta phase, Perfect World Entertainment is finally comfortable enough with its monster hunting MMORPG to push the game to Open Beta. RaiderZ will be heading to Open Beta testing on October 24. There’s been no details on the expected transition patch. Instead, PWE hit us with news of early adopter Founder’s packs.
PWE will be offering two distinct Founder’s packages, both including a Scroll of Heroes to maximize character progression from increasing XP and drop rates to reducing various costs and the Guardian’s Life Stone, awarding instant resurrection. The $9.99 Basic pack also includes an exclusive Breath of Artisan which increases the success of high level enchantments.
The biggest draw of the Elite pack for many is guaranteed access to the upcoming closed beta process of Neverwinter. Sweetening the deal for others is an included mount, costume items and the aforementioned Scroll of Heroes and Guardian’s Life Stone. The Elite pack is currently available for $29.99.
Check out all our RaiderZ coverage, including numerous interviews, zone introductions and recaps at the game’s official page.

Perfect World International, the game that kicked off Perfect World Entertainment, has turned four years old this week. To celebrate, the game is doing what pretty much every other MMOG does, throwing a kickass party for players.
The party kicked off yesterday, September 10 and will award different prizes depending on each player’s tenure in the fantasy MMORPG. As part of the new player initiative, 500 registrants will be randomly selected to receive 500 Zen, basically $5, to begin, renew or continue their new career. Head over to the official anniversary page to put your name in the hat.
Current players should jump on the same link to guarantee themselves their time-sensitive award for playing the game for so long. All players will receive “an adorable rodent companion named ‘Marmot Style,’” while four-year members of PWI will receive “a hulking new serpentine ground mount known as ‘Doom’s Stare.’”
There’s something available for all players in between newbs and veterans. Hit the jump for images of all prizes, including the first year mount, two year cosmetic outfits, third year fox and details on all of the events.
All anniversary festivities end October 8. Continue Reading

It’s been a busy week! The Secret World continues to keep me entertained, as can no doubt be seen in all the blurbs I put up about it. Next week I’ll be putting up the second and final section of my review, as well as starting a weekly TSW-related article. I’ve flopped around on it so much, but I think I’ve finally decided what I’ll be focusing on! Huzzah! So stay tuned for that, if you like reading what I have to say or The Secret World. Or both. I’m good if you like both of these things. I may even do two, if there’s enough interest.
This week brought more SMITE divine lore, tons of interesting things for The Secret World, musings on stocks and CEOs, as well as a contest, a giveaway, and some interesting opinions! Click the button below to check it all out!
