Spellbook Entertainment Announces Their First Dungeon in Amalos – A Minecraft MMO: Crystallum Palace

21 March 2013 | No Comments » | Mordil

For those of you who don’t remember because it’s been so long since I’ve posted anything on this, or those who didn’t know in the first place, I’m working on a MMO project called Amalos – A Minecraft MMO.

Yesterday we rolled out a revamp to our project’s website, and with it, several details about one of the dungeons people will experience at level cap.

We still haven’t finalized details on what level ranges dungeons will be in, or what even the level cap will be, but all the other important details are there about this dungeon.

Here’s a brief description of the dungeon:

The Crystallum Palace is the home of the elemental lord of Water, Oshun, guarded by his faithful second, Ymgarde the Ice Giant.

It is said to be the coldest place known to humans, that your very breath freezes in your lungs.

As the elemental lords wage war on the mortals of Amalos, Heroes answer their call to battle by invading the homelands of the elementals, attacking the lords themselves.

Entering the dungeon is easy enough, as you just head either East out of Val’garn City or West out of Morgin City.

Cryptic Studios Details Customization Further for Neverwinter

25 January 2013 | No Comments » | iTZKooPA

Anyone that’s ever played a Cryptic Studios title has likely spent an ostentatious amount of time customizing their character. For better, or for worse. The company is known for delivering choice, at least up front, for how we gamers may create our avatars. Showcased in an earlier trailer, Neverwinter is to be no different.

Cryptic Studios unleashed a new batch of screenshots earlier today to continue the customization discussion. Focused on donning the correct armor to match one’s playstyle and optimizing stat bonuses, the system still allows players to destroy their opponents in style. Even if itemization is restricted by class and level.

Ragnarok Online 2 Open Beta: First Impressions

8 January 2013 | 3 Comments » | pixiestixy

There’s just something about the cuteness factor of Ragnarok that made me want to come back. It was probably about 10 years ago that I first played the original Ragnarok Online, my first experience with an MMO.

A super-deformed sprite of the original Raganarok Online, fighting the same creature type pictured in the background of the RO2 screenshot above.

I’ve gone back and played the original game many times through the years, and even picked up the game for Nintendo DS a couple years back, but never really got back into it after having experienced the updated graphics and gameplay of World of Warcraft.

But now, the long-awaited and once-scrapped sequel is finally in open beta, and I was keen to get back into the game. But just as I was about to download the client, an unexpected announcement from the game administrators seemed to thwart my attempts:

“…It’s with our deepest apologies that we announce we will not be able to provide the RO2 game service to players outside of our optimized countries – Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam – due to our license agreement with the game’s developer, Gravity Co., Ltd.” — RO2 Administrator, AsiaSoft (source)

This announcement sent huge shockwaves throughout the RO2 community. Many players on the official forums have expressed disappointment and even anger, saying that they feel like they’ve been strung along for years, only to be told at the last second that they wouldn’t be allowed to play the game. But we also have not yet heard any clarification on the topic from the admins — is this a temporary thing? Or maybe just for the beta period? Will the full game eventually be released worldwide? I’d assume yes, but like I said, we’ve not heard that officially.

Regardless, I suppose the game servers have only intermittently received the message that only players in certain areas should be allowed access — I and many others located outside of those areas have still been able to sign up, download and patch the client, and play the game since after that announcement was made. I’m unsure whether that will continue, but I’m happy that I can at least review and share a few screenshots from what I’ve seen so far.

RaiderZ: New Trailer Details Monster Transformations

21 August 2012 | No Comments » | Randy Denosha

The RaiderZ team is excited to share a new trailer detailing some new things to happen in the upcoming monster hunting, action mmorpg. Together with this new trailer some new screenshots were also shared.

Senior Producer Mark Hill said that in addition to offering a closer look at the game’s mounts and combat system, which finds players wielding limbs from defeated monsters and environment items as weapons, the latest episode also highlights RaiderZ’s unique monster transformation system.

Under the right conditions, players can channel their inner beast and transform themselves into many of the deadly monsters that roam the land of Rendel. It’s one of the many unique features that Hill believes sets RaiderZ apart from the pack. Plus, don’t forget about weaponized musical instruments!

After having seen the trailer I personally am really excited to say that I am looking forward to transforming into different monsters! Additional screens shots and the trailer are under the cut! Continue Reading

Exclusive: Lord of the Rings Online’s 5th Anniversary Festival with Aaron Campbell

20 April 2012 | 1 Comment » | iTZKooPA

In the only embargoed interview of the year to date, iTZKooPA stood up with Aaron Campbell, Senior Producer of LotRO, to discuss the title’s unprecedented festival. Created to celebrate the MMORPG’s amazing five-year anniversary, the gather is the largest celebration in LotRO’s history. Developer Turbine Entertainment took the issue to heart and created the largest event for an anniversary in its history.

Fireworks, unique mounts and costumes are just some of the additions. Most interesting is the veteran’s reward system, granting those that have been in it for the long haul much more grandiose rewards than a player that joined when the title went free-to-play.

Festival gifts, activities, rewards and more are discussed and shown below the cut.

E3 2011: Trion Worlds Unveils Rift v1.3, Dubbed ‘Waves of Madness’

7 June 2011 | 1 Comment » | iTZKooPA

Now that E3 2011 has officially started, companies high and low have begun the crush of digital delights. Trion Worlds announced “Waves of Madness” for the company’s fantasy MMORPG Rift, which is on the cusp of breaking one million players.

The second major content patch will introduce our avatars to the Abyssal Cult (detailed a few weeks ago on Massively), a faction bent on freeing Akylios, the cult’s master. The latest patch is to introduce players to Hammerknell, an abandoned dwarven city and prison to Akylios. Did I mention that Akylios is the dragon of the water plane. Yeah, he won’t be squishy.

Scotty Malm, an inept dwarf that refused to stand up to himself, forcing low-level Guardian players to do so will return. Scotty’s specific role (and maturity level) in the upcoming events remain unclear. Hopefully, the memorable quest humor makes a return.

Extra media behind the cut. Continue Reading
