Tomb of the Forgotten Kings Becomes Remembered in Amalos – A Minecraft MMO

11 April 2013 | No Comments » | Mordil

As I mentioned in my post almost 3 years ago when World of Warcraft launched Cataclysm, I love ancient Egypt and its mythology.

I was pretty excited when this finally came up on our “To-Do” list for dungeon building in Amalos, as it puts all my knowledge of ancient Egypt to the test, and use.

We employed a nice amount of new building skills that we’ve acquired thus far from all the dungeons we’ve built for Amalos – A Minecraft MMO.

Hopefully you will all enjoy this dungeon as much as I did designing it. This one is paired with Sewer City Fight Club at level 10.

We also want to give a very special thanks to the Minecraft player, FilaStyle84, for the Sphinx statue face we used in the last boss room. This saved us a ton of time, and added a nice touch to the area.

Here’s the description. After the cut, you can find the boss overviews, directions to find the entrance, and the lore section for this dungeon.

Even with the Valgarians being so deeply entrenched in science and knowledge, they have forgotten and lost a large amount of information on themselves.

This tomb has been sealed and hidden in the sands of time for over 5 centuries. After the Great War, the Valgarian populace gained a greater sense of being, and a desire to understand themselves.

Determined to re-learn secrets of their past, an archaeology group was founded.

Who are they, what did they do, and what happened to some of their ancestors?

The Arcadian Spire Descends Upon Amalos – A Minecraft MMO

9 April 2013 | 2 Comments » | Mordil

We have finally finished the last of the level cap dungeons: Arcadian Spire.

The Arcadian Spire is the mantle of the heavens. Domain to the Wind Lord Tuhuan.

For a recap of the level 30 dungeons, check out these links: Crystallum Palace, Agnis Depths, and Erden Heights.

This dungeon provided many new challenges for us as builders, and we think we did a substantial job. Note that most of the blocks used are placeholders until we get our client up for us to build with our actual art.

Here’s the description for Arcadian Spire:

High the sky, no one even knew the Arcadian Spire was there.

From the mantle of the heavens, Wind Lord Tuhuan overlooked the infinite masses of worlds.

He has decided to descend upon the mortals of Amalos and take up residence along with his elemental lord brethren.

The portal to Arcadian Spire is on a small floating dias near the village of Verlandorf. Head East out of Brestan, or West out of Qairon, and head to the Battle of the Sand Demon.

Agnis Depths Completed; Livestream Building Session on Saturday April 6th

4 April 2013 | No Comments » | Mordil

After finishing Erden Heights, we quickly jumped into Agnis Depths. This place was massive and entertaining to see take shape from start to finish.

Speaking of watching things from start to finish – Sephalon and I will be livestreaming a build session this Saturday April 6th at 12pm PST (3pm EST / 8pm GMT) on Spellbook Entertainment’s Twitch.tv channel: www.twitch.tv/spellbookentertainment

We’ll be letting people watch and listen to us from the start. We’ll be going until about 4pm PST (7pm EST / 12am GMT). Every once in awhile we’ll ask for feedback from the viewers, and be giving away BETA Access & Gold In-Game.

Here’s the description of this fiery dungeon:

Agnis Depths retains the heat of the passionate fury of Agnis.

His hatred for any other than himself is manifested physically by the constant formation of new magma sources pouring through the ceiling and walls.

This place beneath Erden Heights is the embodiment of war and violence.

The portal into Agnis Depths is easy to find if you know where Erden Heights’ is. It’s on the south side of the mountain.

The lore, bosses, and screenshots can be found by continuing to read.

Amalos – A Minecraft MMO Gets Dark and Creepy With the Addition of the Crypt of the Damned

2 April 2013 | No Comments » | Mordil

We recently finished “Crypt of the Damned”, and I have to say – this was our favorite project yet and we’re excited to have this one shown.

Crypt of the Damned is available to players level 25-30, along with Val’garn Foundry. This dungeon level bracket is the last before level cap, and provides the last half of gear upgrades for players.

Here’s the description of this dungeon:

Since the Siege of Morgin City, the Priests in town have been acting strangely.

As of late, a few of the town’s citizens have rumored to have gone missing.

Normally the City Crypt is off-limits to anyone not of the Holy Order, but after the graveyard’s gardener heard something going on down there, an investigation has been ordered.

What roams beneath the city? Who walks through the halls of the dead?

The entrance portal isn’t that hard to find for this one – you just head to the Chapel in Morgin City, and head down the stairs found in the graveyard.

For the lore section, boss info, and screenshots, continue reading on.

Spellbook Entertainment “Scraps Lore” and Adopts Factions & Races Into Amalos – A Minecraft MMO

1 April 2013 | 1 Comment » | Mordil

As of today, Spellbook Entertainment decided to drop the lore aspect behind Amalos – A Minecraft MMO, stating the reason “we have been listening avidly to player feedback, and decided players no longer care about lore”.

They also went ahead and announced the new Factions and playable Races in Amalos, including Creeper, Skeleton, Valkyrie, Human, and Zombie.

Here’s the official statement from Spellbook:

Reno, NV. April 1st, 2013. Spellbook Entertainment announced today that Amalos – A Minecraft MMO is getting a major design change and is scraping the story aspect of the game.

CEO Nathan “Mordil” Harris makes the following comments: “We’ve been in development for almost two years now, and during that time we’ve worked effortlessly with the community to provide the best experience possible with them. After a week of player feedback – we’ve decided to make this change based on that negative feedback provided”

The community for Amalos – A Minecraft MMO consists of one player: Wandorf. These changes are based on his feedback, and we appreciate his continual support of Amalos – A Minecraft MMO.

The two factions to be added are: Alliance of Hostile Mobs and the Federation of Amalos.

Erden Heights Gets Added to the Level Cap Roster in Amalos – A Minecraft MMO

28 March 2013 | No Comments » | Mordil

Continuing with the schedule pace I’ve set of releasing dungeons for Amalos – A Minecraft MMO, here’s the third one: Erden Heights.

Erden Heights is one of four dungeons available only to level 30 players, with Crystallum Palace among them as well.

Here’s a brief description of the place:

Enclave for the lord of earth, Bhumi, the Erden Heights is home to more than just him.

Providing shelter for both the Queen of Tigers, Celestial, and the only known Ent, Bregalad, the Erden Heights is a feat of strength for even the most seasoned mountain climber.

Its peak is the highest point of Amalos; do you think you can reach the top and claim it for the People of Amalos?

The entrance to this place is a little more difficult to find than Crystallum Palace, or Sewer City Fight Club. Head North as much as possible out of Brestan City, and then follow the road east to the Forward Defense Camp. The mountain can be seen in the distance from there.

To see a list of bosses, and the lore behind Erden Heights, read on!
