Teased earlier in the year, Ubisoft is beginning to unveil additional details the company’s first serious entry into the dungeon crawling, multiplayer PC realm. The Ubisoft Montreal developed The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot is continuously approaching closed beta testing. Today, the publisher unveiled the first trailer for the “dungeon crawling, castle defending, PC game multi-playing, loot-based extravaganza.”

Players can take a shot at gaining access to the closed alpha testing by registering at the official website. Odds are fairly low to get alpha access, but that’s where the marketing comes in. Today’s trailer takes prospective players through Opulencia, the ridiculous medieval world of The Mighty Quest for Epic.

Bravery or stupidity?

Hot on the heels of the final closed beta weekend comes the official reveal of another unique zone for Neverwinter. The action-oriented Forgotten Realms-based MMORPG will plunge players into the base of House Xorlarrin. These nefarious drow are murdering and enslaving all that come across their path in this high-level zone.

The fourth house of Menzoberranzan, House Xorlarrin is aligned with Lolth, Queen of Spiders (seen in Dungeons & Dragons Online). The alignment guarantees night terrors for arachnophobic gamers. Rothe Valley is besieged by masters of magic and arachnid foes loyal to Xorlarrin and the fearsome queen.

MOBA/RPG Hybrid Prime World Closed Beta Starts Soon

12 April 2013 | No Comments » | iTZKooPA

Launched successfully in Russia in 2011, the MOBA/RPG hybrid Prime World is nearly ready to descend on the English-speaking world. Nival announced that the game will enter closed beta testing shortly. Sign-ups are now live on the official website.

For those that haven’t heard of Prime World, there’s actually a bit more than what the headline described. To stop the headline from scrambling our beautiful layout we had to hold off on the third aspect of the hybrid title, castle building. Prime World attempts to cherry pick the best features of the MOBA genre – PvP, laneing and itemization – combine it with persistent RPG development and build a city-based economy to support future endeavors.

Beating SMITE to the punch, Prime World feature a wide variety of game modes. The typical laneing style is available, but as part of its six modes Prime World includes a mix of environments, gameplay pacing and team sizes.

Curious? Take a gander at the official English reveal trailer and screenshots featuring combat and city building after the cut. We’ll have more on the popular Prime World universe as the game approaches its testing phase.

WildStar Jumps Into the Spotlight with Intro Trailer

20 March 2013 | 1 Comment » | iTZKooPA

Developer Carbine Studios has been pushing WildStar, its MMORPG slated for 2013 release, rather quietly for the past few months. That is seemingly all about to change. Publisher NCSoft and Carbine Studios released the first official trailer to explain to gamers exactly what the previously lightly detail title is all about.

To date, we pretty much knew that its a class-based title and a unique Path System feature that is a separate choice from Explorer, Soldier, Scientist or Settle. Followers of WildStar’s early blog posts also know that gamers will reside on the fringes of settled space, the fictional planet of Nexus. Why fictional? Well, we wouldn’t want the other planets to claim Carbine Studios was playing favorites.

The 4+ minute trailer explains all of this, adding in details on the paths, player-built housing, PvP and more on the story.

Lore Hound will be meeting with Carbine Studios at PAX East for our introductory interview. If you’ve a question you want asked leave it in the comments. Continue Reading

Neverwinter Zone Reveal: Neverwinter – Jewel of the North (Trailer)

18 March 2013 | No Comments » | iTZKooPA

Cryptic Studios is certainly taking full advantage of the Dungeons & Dragons intellectual property for Neverwinter. The developer released its latest zone reveal late last week focusing on one of the most awe inspiring cities available to the action-oriented MMORPG. Few cities are as majestic as the Jewel of the North, a bustling city before the Spellplague and after the eruption of Mount Hotenow.

Saved from the ravages of the external factors ever present in the Forgotten Realms by its massive city wall, the ‘Jewel of the North’ is a token to Lord Neverember’s tireless efforts to protect his people. Even the ones that hope to tear apart his reign from within the city’s very walls.

Hit the cut for the latest trailer taking viewers across the regions of Neverwinter, gameplay, included mounted combat and a collection of advanced skills for the classes.

Neverwinter Gives the Control Wizard its Just Desserts (Trailer)

15 March 2013 | 1 Comment » | iTZKooPA

Ice beam.

“Hey, Pherephassa.” I ask.

“Yeah, iTZKooPA?” she responds.

“I’m a control freak. Is that weird?” I confessed.

“Why, heavens no. In fact, this game Neverwinter I’ve been playing has an entire class dedicated to the task. You should give it a whirl.” she informed.

And so I did. I did for over two hours during last weekend’s second beta event for Neverwinter. While I may not have been a huge fan of the DPS class with some crowd control abilities, it was a radically different play style than the Trickster Rogue I played week one. Change is good. I can only imagine how diverse that means Cryptic Studios has made the Guardian Fighter, Devoted Cleric and Great Weapon Fighter.

The Control Wizard is the master of the Arcane. Capable of wielding this field of magic for destructive and support purposes, a control wizard is a dangerous foe and powerful enemy in the lands of Neverwinter. The other classes can keep the party alive and end of foes life, but a skilled control wizard can keep such creatures from ever landing a blow.

Hit the jump for the latest class montage and a collection of wizardy screenshots. Continue Reading

Defiance Adds to Customization With Modular Weapons

11 March 2013 | No Comments » | iTZKooPA

Customization in video games, RPG or MMOGs in particular, isn’t an unexpected feature. Gamers are used to designing their character, acquiring a variety of flashy loot, and, nowadays, being able to make changes on formerly permanent decisions. Defiance players can expect the expected, donning themselves in a variety of gear, facial selects and the like. But as the latest trailer for the open world shooter points out there’s another aspect Trion Worlds hope players fall for, weapon modification.

The ‘Unique Weapon and Modifications Trailer’ follows the standard Defiance drop, providing little in the way on concrete details. The flash production does showcase the wide variety of weaponry available and hints at how it can be tweaked to personal preferences. While not in the range of the “bazillion” options of Borderlands 2, Defiance will offer players “thousands of options” at launch.

Defiance servers goes live April 2 and premieres on Syfy on April 15. Hit the cut to catch the short trailer. Continue Reading
