AoC: I'm Done

It has been about a month since I’ve trekked through the world of Hyboria and to be honest I have absolutely no desire to go back.  I don’t even have AoC installed anymore on my computer and probably never will again.  For those of you interested in why, I upgraded to Vista from XP, big mistake by the way, and I decided to wipe my drive and do a clean install.

Now that my comp is AoC free and I’ll need to go through the whole process of re-installing and downloading all the patches, it just seems like way to much work to play a game I don’t even like.  So I won’t.  This makes Age of Conan the second MMORPG in a row for me that I have quit after 1 month, Tabula Rasa is the other.

So what went wrong with AoC?  For me the major problem was the quest grinding, I just can’t do it again, I just can’t play another MMORPG and grind through 1000+ boring quests.  Apart from that, I felt as though even if I continued along and leveled, I would still reach lev 80 before the developers added the end game.  I know many lev 80 players that have nothing to do and are just waiting for what Funcom promised.

So with my AoC experience over, I now look towards the next MMO, most notably Warhammer Online and Jumpgate: Evolution.  Hears to hoping.

  1. Kudos to you for making it that far. I got to 18 and realized it sucked and was out before my free month was over

  2. I’m done as well. After two months of pure agony and frustration with a broken game, I had to give it up. I wanted to reach lvl 80 but after last week’s miserable patch, lvl 75 was it for me.

The sheer idea that FunCom wanted millions of players to be beta testers for their game was beyond horrific, it was an absolute insult! Their utter lack of customer/technical support to the sheer number of game freezes & crashes was more than any other MMO. The lies said by Erling (idiot at large) about soon to be released updates were grotesque in nature, thinking everyone would believe him, sad.

This IP should not have gone to FunCom and I sincerely hope that they never get another good IP or make another game again!!

  3. I also uninstalled 2 days ago. Got to 48 on my HoX before I decided I can’t take it anymore.

It’s not a bad game, but quality wise is about as good as a 2$ burger.

But the one thing I can’t stand is that Funcom PR guy who keeps lying and spinning the truth so much that I get a headache. Two weeks, next week, two weeks, gigasuccess… blah blah… headache.

  4. Uninstalled.

Still there if Funcom remembers how to make an MMO in the future.
They had a good design, then stomped on it and said “Lets do this instead….*EVIL MANIACAL LAUGHTER*”

Ah well…back to the oldies but goodies.
