SOE Plans a Party for Comic Con

For years San Diego Comic Con has been a mecca for fans of comics, games, and genre entertainment, but it was often overlooked by MMO producers in favor of other public relations events. That seems to have all changed this year — a number of new massively multiplayer titles and developers will be on deck next weekend to talk about their work.

For example, Sony Online Entertainment will be there in force to promote the upcoming DC Universe Online. There is an official DCUO panel on Saturday, July 24, with game developers, writers, and …. Mark Hamill! (Hamill lends his voice to The Joker in the popular Batman: Arkham Asylum game.) The panel will also see the debut of the DC Universe Online opening cinematic, and every attendee will receive a beta key.

Fans who can’t make it to the panel can hobnob with DCUO developers, including Executive Creative Director Jim Lee, during the Fan Event later that evening. Beta keys will be distributed on a first come, first served basis, and there will be a Q&A session. The Event takes place in the Seaview Room of the Marriott Hotel in downtown San Diego, and starts at 6:30 PM.

The MMO news is going to be flying fast and furious at SDCC — keep an eye on MMOCrunch over the coming weeks to read all the latest updates!
