Star Wars: The Old Republic reveals Jedi Knight class

Here it is, folks. The quintessential Star Wars protagonist. The keeper of peace and order. The Jedi Knight.

In Star Wars: The Old Republic, the Jedi Knight will play a counterpart to the Sith melee specializations, but will have access to more than pure damage-dealing skills. In concept, the Jedi Knight can be likened to a Paladin or other priestly warrior; the Light Side can heal and reinvigorate allies while demoralizing others (e.g. Battle Meditation). Jedi prefer focus and willpower over the passionate ways of the Sith, as is evident in Star Wars history. Through this, the Jedi Knight will have access to buffing, de-buffing, and stun abilities to assist him/herself and others in combat.

In Star Wars: The Old Republic, the Knight class will branch out into two subclasses, the Guardian and the Sentinel. The Guardian will fill a typical tanking role, complete with heavy armor specializations and aggro management.  The Sentinel class, on the other hand, will focus on raw melee damage (read DPS) through use of dual-lightsabers. The Sentinel will be able to “see holes in the enemy defense” (a.k.a. increase personal damage output or decrease enemy defense) and attack with great speed and vigor.

The Jedi have been known to employ the aid of resourceful droids in their quest to protect the Republic, and SWoTOR sees no difference in that trend. The Astromech T7-01 Droid appears as a “known associate” of the Jedi Order, and has not been party to a single memory wipe since his activation two centuries ago. Learn more about the T7-01 here. In addition, BioWare has posted HoloNet updates regarding the Jedi Knight class here.
