I can almost feel the atmosphere of excitement and tension over at the Trion Worlds offices as Rift’s official servers went up today, initiating the Head Start week for players who pre-ordered the high-profile fantasy MMO. Running in the same vein as World of Warcraft and Warhammer Online, Rift offers players an intricate “soul” progression system, dynamic zone-wide events, and of course, Rifts — all in a traditional MMO setting.

Personally, I’m quite torn between pre-ordering Rift or Xsyon, but that’s another story entirely. What is important is that players around the world are stampeding their server of choice, rallying together in a beautiful symphony (or cacophony) of community and adventure. Finally, Trion Worlds has officially announced 1 million registered Rift accounts, signaling what is certain to be one of the most successful MMO launches in years.
