In what seems to have become a weekly ritual, this week we have Earthrise announcing they are now going Free-to-play staring December 1st when they will no longer be charging a subscription fee. However, new players will only be added via invitations as Masthead prepares the game for a full F2P launch. Current players will be able to invite a few friends during this transition period.
Masthead, the developers behind Earthrise, have stated the new in-game store will not be pay-to-win so players need not worry. CEO Atanas Atanasov also stated that during the transition to F2P, they will concentrate on adding polish to the game and as well as tweaking some of the features that “spoil the fun in the game“.
No word yet on when the game will official launch into F2P, however it is expected in early 2012.
The official announcement said : “The game is not polished and broken and we do not feel charging people is the right thing to do so we are going free to play” – LOL Slap in the face for F2P players. Yup…F2P = the trash bin.
