Starting tomorrow, Valve’s PC game distribution service Steam, will be offering free to play titles. Five titles are being added over the next five days, you guessed it, one per day in the following order. Spiral Knights, Forsaken World, Champions Online, Global Agenda, and Alliance of Valliant Arms.
For those of you thinking, well doesn’t Steam already offer some of those title for download? The answer is yes, however now in game transactions in all of the titles will be supported by Steam’s micro-transaction backend system currently used in Valve’s Team Fortress 2.
So basically Steam will become a portal for F2P titles like many other publishers have become such as gPotato, Perfect World Int, IGG, SOE, etc. However Steam has a huge advantage as they can partner up with all publishers and offer a lot more F2P titles then any one publisher could.
Each day Steam will offer exclusive in-game items for those that download and signup to whatever game is released on that day.
