Mythos is Back…Again

Mythos has probably had one of the bumpiest histories of any MMO game I can remember. Originally developed by Flagship Studios, in 2008 due to financial issues while Mythos was getting ready for open beta, the game was put on hold, then scrapped when Flagship went under.

Mythos then became the intellectual property of HanbitSoft, a Korean MMO publisher, who decided they would re-create Mythos for Asia and NA markets. Frogster would become the publisher in Europe. Last month Frogster announced Mythos EU would be closing its doors due to a lack of interest.

Which brings us to today where HanbitSoft and T3Fun have announced that the North America version will be going into a 4-day closed beta test on Dec 1st.

Now I don’t want to sound like a pessimist, but how many times can a game fail before they give up? To signup for the Closed beta, head over to the Mythos Global website.

  1. The shift in rights is always messy and we the consumer suffer. Thankfully there are indi publishers that publish for fun and not cash dependent. Frogster, however, is super cash dependent. There was a medium interest with a medium community, probably larger than most other games. Frogster ditched it because people were not reliant on the cash shop like you have to be in RoM. For example, people buy a mount almost immediatly in RoM. Mythos, no need. So they gave up and put their time and money into a new 3D mmo bieng developed right now by Frogster.
IT is and always will be greed. It is sad because this game has potential. Just have to get over the RoM like look, and bad reputation.
I personally do not trust Hanisoft so won’t be playing.

  2. For me, I will give this game a try since I have been waiting for this game to be released in our country. It my be quite old but I think I will still like it because of the gameplay.
