Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands Game-stopping Bug [Update2]

The original glitch in the computer world was a literal bug in the system, a moth as the story goes. May I submit to you that latest bug to add to the ever-growing list.

I’d only progressed halfway through Ubisoft Montreal’s latest adventure when I flipped my way to The Observatory. The room looked fairly straightforward, flip to the pull switch, activate the astrolabe and use it to vault my way to freedom. Unfortunately, the switch required to control the astrolabe doesn’t rise with the platform, as evidenced in this walkthrough video. Just an emblem with some mysterious smokey fire (that’s usually inside the switch).

I was unlucky in locating any mention of the bug via Google. This leads me to believe that the issue isn’t widespread. Short of restarting the game (or cheating), I cannot progress any further.  This is really unfortunate because I am supposed to review the game!

I’ve reached out to Ubisoft Montreal for comment. I can only assume that a patch is in the works.

[Update]

A reader was kind enough to upload his save game file that includes the much needed switch.  I’ve yet to try it myself, but a handful of members have already moved beyond the Astrolabe thanks to the file.

Let’s see, all we needed was a different save game to remedy the issue.  Doesn’t seem that hard to address/fix Ubisoft!

I’ve confirmed that the file does unlock the long lost switch (and that the file is virus/spyware free, as far as my tools can tell).  Many thanks to Asilo for the upload. Now, I am off to complete and review the game…

  4. the lever has been raised!! i cant belive my eyes thanx Asilo i couldnt find the save game in the begining till i copy paste it in the adress bar on vista caus for some reason the appdata dint show up thanx again dude.

  10. in vista or win7 it should be – C:\users\your name\Appdata\local\storage\(some random characters)\11 your appdata folder may be hidden by default

    if your on xp then – C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Ubisoft (folder)\storage\(some random characters)\11

  11. Dont forget its only visible when its a not hidden map C:\users\your name\Appdata\local\storage\(some random characters)\11

  13. Hi vineethIf u could see carefully u will have a perpendicular water wall… so u need to leave freeze and then try freezing after you cross the wall. After crossing u will get the next water pipe…. timing is very important.

  14. Guys I am stuck in the prison area, right before opening a gate with traps before it. The switch on the floor does not activate the gate. Any help on this?

  18. hi friends help me please am stuck right after throne room , i explain malik and ratash are fighting and when prince reaches and second seens begins
    … my problem is when prince fight with ratash as ratash drop his sword princ e try 2 catch ratash there golder like thing come where prince has 2 hang and jump 2 wall that m not doing as i trying 2 do screen tinted and prince died i cnt even reverse time.i tried 100 times.pleas give me save file if anybody completed,, please help me otherwise i have 2 leave the game

  20. Omfg same issue here!!

    BUT this helped mine:

    Go to: SAVED DATA UTILITY ps3

    And if you have more than one saving point in prince of Persia delete the latest one. You won’t start off where you last left but it won’t be starting from scratch. Mine was just a couple levels back

    One you press “play” in the game, it will say the last saving point was “corrupt” or something like that so, so it will give you another option. Which work.

  21. Hey guys, I can’t find the storage folder in C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\storage\dW5kZXZpbGp1cg==\11 …. The only folder file is data…… And even there I can’t find dW5kZXZpbGp1cg folder…. So what should i do? Any help would be appreciated

    My OS is XP and I am playing the Skidrow version, I found my 4.save on a different directory, hopefully this may help someone; C:\Documents and Settings\[user]\Local Settings\Application Data\storage\SKIDROW\11

  24. I actually finished this part, I have version 1.o. I am now stuck at the palace after killing the “trio boss” resurrecting the army sands. There seems no way out.

    from the start of the sand army when ever i jump on a poll after activating a switch or lever, the game freezes and i found myself stuck in a desert kind of environment, if i jump i die.
    i downloaded this game online for free and i very much wanna end it by my own. can anyone help. any patch or offline server thing to go through without glitches. or should i download it again from another source. Plz suggest…

  28. I hv the same problem as explained by Rahulk. Instead of POP stuck in desert, when I jump from a poll activated by a lever the prince gets stuck in the sky , if opted for jumping, he dies.

    I hv contacted UB soft support team and after lot of communications, they suggested that my DVD disc may be corrupted. Hence I got a new DVD from US and played again. But same problem exists. Anybody has any solutions for this peculiar bug.

  31. Hey guys,
    I got a simple solution for my problem, u might wanna use some trainer which give unlimited sands. When prince moves it moves on the poll it transport to desert, so when that happens u just rewind to get back and with it tap direction key once, then try this again to go through all the way, u will find this thing at least 3 more times. I finished my game, it gets really tough at final climb. Hope u all find it useful (& no save game required).

    even i gotr stuck at the terrace…. around the sliding things coming down…. whatever i do… the prince doesnt catch the sliding platform… all he does is wall run skid on the wall and die…:(…. plz i lowered difficulty and also played the game again to terrace 4 times… plz… help me… some one provide me a save game file…. please mail it to j23raghav@gmail.com…… plz plz plz…

    Yes i also have that problem when i just stocked behind dors and when i restart chekpoint everything is same… gate who open dors its too high to jump back on it and dors is closed…
    Won of the options is starting new game like i did but i find another bug… i used Skidrow crack fix..for now its ok. Too many bugs going to my nerv!

  41. i have installed Prince of Persia The Forgotten Sands, and i open this game it said binkw32.dll file missing error then i download and pasted in to system32 folder, again i open this game it says now Entry poin not found error message with “The procedure entry pointBinkRegistryFrameBuffers@8 could not be located in the dynamic link library binkw32.dll”

    plzzzzz help me…

  42. After first boss fight! when i go to meet razia(the lade who gives the power to prince) my game automatically close. and i can’t continue my game because of closing my game at this point.. Some one please help..

  43. Hey guys if you pasted the 4.save file and it still starts at the same place, try deleting every save file such as 1.save 5.save etc. in your 11 folder. and then just put that 4.save from the link above. It worked for me then. Also, if you want upgrades, paste the rest back after that.

    Friends I had the same problem of doors…. I was killed by the Roller and when my game started I was at the balcony from where I could not jump back and can’t go ahaed as the door is closed.

    So after wasting my alot of time I got few solution from different forums and web pages.
    Here are they.

    1- Go to this path

    C:\Documents and Settings\[user]\Local Settings\Application Data\storage\SKIDROW\11
    There is a file of 4.save .. Rename this to 4.bak now run the game .. hopefully it will work

    2- Second way(IF above one is not working) is again go to this path

    C:\Documents and Settings\[user]\Local Settings\Application Data\storage\SKIDROW\11
    Remove all the saved files like 4.save ,2.save , 4.save.metadata and 2.save.metadata
    After removing all these files paste the save games files here (Saved games can be found from any helping website)

    3- Third way is that go to the options and change the difficulty level to lower …. hopefully all of these 3 points will be helpful to all of you guys..
