Yes, avid gamers, another major MMO will come for the joy of all of you. Next January 11, 2011, DC Universe Online will launch, bringing the epic of all the famous superheroes of the DC franchise, changing superhero-themed MMOs world, maybe forever.
This will be the first MMO based on the DC Universe comics, not only MMO players will enjoy it, but lots of comics fans that, perhaps, will take the opportunity to enter the gaming world, inspired by their favorite heroes or villains. This is a huge project and SOE is excited about it, as stated on the press release.
“Creating DC Universe Online has been a massive undertaking, and we’re excited to be that much closer to launch,” said Christopher Cao, Game Director of DCUO for Sony Online Entertainment. “We’re grateful to our beta players for providing us invaluable feedback in these final stages that has enabled us to put the finishing touches on a fun and exciting experience when the game launches in January.”
DCUO will hit the market with a retail price of US$49.99 for PC in North America, including 30-day game membership, with a US$14.99 monthly fee subscription. The game will be included in SOE’s all-in-one Station Access.
SOE expects to update the game regularly, with new iconic DC Comic characters, in-game events and new instances, making an effort to keep DCUO among the important MMOs. The game will be rated T for Teen by the ESRB: Mild Blood, Mild Language, Mild Suggestive Themes and Violence.
