World of Tanks Starts Closed Beta

You’ve played as an elf. You’ve played as a spaceship (as mocked in the teaser trailer above). You’ve played as a car. So why not… play an MMO as a tank!

That’s the idea behind Wargaming.net’s World of Tanks and starting on July 8 players will get to try for themselves as part of the closed beta. Testers will have access to over 70 different military vehicles from the German and Soviet armies, and 7 unique maps to roll over and blow up. Vehicles gain new powers and and upgrades as they level up.

Nick Katselapov, the game’s producer, said, “We are extremely happy to give the green light to World of Tanks closed beta. After three and a half years of hard work the development team is eager to listen to the opinion of our players as we hope to gather a lot of valuable information.”

World of Tanks is designed to appeal to history buffs and MMO fans alike. To register for the closed beta you can visit the official website, or just keep an eye on MMOCrunch for our World of Tanks Closed Beta Giveaway (coming soon!).
