Looks like the developers at Cryptic Studios have keeping their collective noses to the grindstone, pumping out a constant supply of tweaks and fixes to Champions Online. Executive Producer Shannon Posniewski has recently dropped by the forums to declare another healthy serving of content overhauls.
For appetizers, Cryptic has suggested we start out with a new Pet system, wherein players will have to be more explicit when commanding their pets, while enjoying increased pet strength on all counts. Pets will now require energy to perform special attacks, which is expected to affect their gameplay dynamic. Developers have also been active in-game, and have discovered that certain social hubs leave much to be desired. For this reason, the “Ren Center” has been given a complete facelift in the hopes that it will foster more social activity. Also on the menu are Civilian Mission fixes, 20 new emotes, and of course, more costume options.
Moving on to the main course: Supergroup improvements! Changes have been made to the visual interface to make the organization process in general more effective and straightforward. Moreover, Supergroup leaders will now be able to advertise their group by adding themselves to a revamped search window. This new recruitment feature will also allow for specifications such as casual/hardcore level, collective goals, and web links. Lastly, a new “Event System” has been announced, which will allow group leaders to schedule events and make related information easily accessible to all members.
There are boatloads of other updates, so if this preview has whet your appetite, head on over to the official forum post to get the full scoop. I have to say, the storyline behind September’s new adventure pack, “The Demonflame”, sounds pretty epic indeed.
