MOBA Monday is a weekly showcase of how to perform, eh, let’s go with adequately – we hope – in a massive online battle arena. The streaming squad features the hottest, upcoming or most interesting titles of their and the communities fancy for a few rounds of PvP shenanigans in our weekly Twitch channel staple.
Defense of the Ancients 2 (DotA2) is a MOBA that was published by Valve. It sprung from Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and its expansion, the Frozen Throne. Each team is comprised of 5 players who work in cooperation with each other to destroy the other 5 player team’s towers and ultimately, their ancient. Each player chooses a hero whose abilities are used in combination with other heroes in an attempt to overpower and overtake the other team. With 111 unique heroes, Dota 2 is described as a multiplayer chess game in which each hero acts as a chess piece would, with skills and roles.
With the International 2016 concluded, players like myself have raced back to the game with a keen eagerness to display the talent and unique drafting abilities that the winners and participants of the International showcased. Each year, the International’s drafts showcase the “meta” or the current heroes that are over-powered or combinations of heroes that seem impossible to beat. I’m curious to see what drafts will arise in my own games and whether or not heroes have fallen out of the meta.
If you’re interested in watching an avid eSports enthusiast player with mediocre skills, I’ll be streaming on Twitch Monday around 7:00 PM EST. Join me for crazy matchmaking, possible screaming and a good time!
