Amatera called it. A scant few days ago he prophetically said that we’d be seeing an influx of World of Warcraft news in the near future. It has already come true. Just a mere 24 hours after his bold claim came the announcement of incoming news (I really hate that). Buried in the spur of speculative activity was a new reason to recruit a friend to the game. What this actually means is the mount collectors will have a new reason to recruit themselves to pay an extra $15 a month until they score the new mount: the X-53 Touring Rocket.
Blue Bashiok answered the most pressing question: “The X-53 will be replacing the current Zhevra mount reward, which is retiring from the Recruit-A-Friend business after a good run. If you’ve already claimed a Zhevra (or claim one prior to the change), you’ll be able to hang on to it, of course. We’ll have more details on the new Recruit-A-Friend mount once it becomes available.”
And the next obvious question: “If you’ve claimed your Recruit-A-Friend gift and received the Zhevra you’ll need to refer a new friend (thus gaining a new reward to redeem and claim after this change) to also obtain the X-53 Touring Rocket.”
I believe this is more important than a simple marketing scheme to earn a few extra bucks from the really hardcore players. You’ll recall that the last Recruit-A-Friend kicked off at the tail end of The Burning Crusade. Logic would dictate that the new fare is signaling that Cataclysm should be approaching beta very soon. A second call by Amatera.
Here’s to hoping he goes two for two.
Well, they did say they were making 2 passenger rockets. :P
IN any case, I wouldn’t give up so much hope on this “Beta coming soon” thing. I mean Come On, we still gt 2 patches and a Raid coming out.
