Lego Universe North American Launch

[imagebrowser id=337]Today is the much anticipated North American launch of Lego Universe, the massively multiplayer answer to many a nerd’s childhood dreams, (including mine.)

As the screenshots and videos attest, Lego Universe promises a spectrum of pimped-out color, over-the-top adorable graphics and features enough to entice even the most grown-up of the overgrown kid set, let alone the actual kids it was designed for. Beginning with a shiny, dowloadable intro sequence, (narrated by the incredible Patrick Stewart) Lego Universe promises customizable characters, multiple worlds, missions, battles, wandering pets to tame and keep, and the chance for fans to really get involved by adding their own creations and content. It also features plenty of chances to socialize with Lego fans all over the world.

Because the target audience is young (rated for players ages 10 and up) it has a variety of safety features, including chat filters and in-game moderators whose presence has been incorporated as part of story continuity.

Lego Universe is available for both PC and Mac and requires a basic game purchase as well as a monthly subscription fee. Languages available at launch are English (both US and UK) and German, with additional languages soon to follow.
