Making Gold in Guild Wars 2

I’ve played a lot of MMORPGs over the years and one thing has always been consistent, I’ve always been poor.  Most of the time it was because I didn’t want to spend the time grinding to make money, I never crafted and I’ve only slightly dabbled in auction houses.  Guild Wars 2 however makes it so easy to make money that for the first time ever, I consider myself in the upper-class.

I went into GW2 with the same mindset as every other MMORPG and after 2 weeks I was poor, with only 90 silver to my name at level 41. That day I crafted my way to level 43 which dropped me to about 60 silver and that’s when it happened. I said to myself, ‘I’m done with being poor’ and turned straight to the auction house to see how I could make some coin. Up until this point I’ve used the auction house sparingly to buy some mats and a few pieces of armor and weapons, but this time my goal was different.

I started to examine categories and items to see what was selling and quickly noticed that GW2 tells you the spread on every item listed. You can see the highest buying price as well as the lowest selling price with the difference being pure profit minus listing costs. Had I know it was this easy, I would have been doing this from day one.

I spent my 60 silver and flipped it within an hour and by the next day I was already over 1 gold; by the end of day three I had 3 gold sitting in my bank.  It’s been 10 days now since I started and I have over 10 gold to my name, plenty of mats plus I’ve bought exotic weapons for myself as well as large inventory bags.

You don’t need to be online often to do this. I log in for 5-15 mins three to four times throughout the day to collect money and to update my listings which are making between 20-50% profit on every sale. I’m sure those percentages will drop down over the next few weeks as more people realize this is the fastest way to make money and start doing it for themselves, but I’m still happy to share.

The way GW2 auction house is setup is unlike any other game as they group all items into a massive pool, so you don’t have to sift through dozens of separate auctions so determine the highest and lowest prices. The only thing required to become rich is patience.

  1. Well… i´m having exactly the opposite results.

I´m level 65 and i only have 8g, i´m not crafting much and since the BLTP is down for maintenance every 2 days.. i´m unsure what to do once i hit level 80 or how to make some cash for at least one armor set (especially after reading what the cost of 1x Legendary item are).
