The secret is out, The Secret World will be officially launching on June 19th, two months after its initial release date, which was supposed to be sometime in April.
Ragnar Tornquist, the game’s creative director, stated that the extra time would make the game better in the long run and would allow for more beta testing, which will be announced soon.
“Allowing for even more time to polish the game really shows just how much faith Funcom as a company has in The Secret World, and how committed we are to making it the best it can be,”
The additional time will also allow us to carry out even more quality beta testing, and soon we will also be announcing several public beta events where hundreds of thousands of gamers will get to test the game prior to launch”
Considering how TSW was really the only MMO to be released in April, the push back does not seem to be a response to any other games release date. (ie. Diablo 3) It looks like the game just doesn’t have enough polish for Funcom to be confident in an April release, and will now most likely have to go toe-to-toe with Diablo 3, who’s been rumored will also be released around the same time, June/July.
