The first adventure pack on review at the new The Dungeon Master column is called the Catacombs. This DDOadventure pack is created for characters between level three and four. We at LoreHound did an Instance Gratification of this adventure pack so go check that one out here, if you want.
I’ll wait for you to finish it.
This adventure pack holds a whooping eight different adventures. And, of course, there’s some really nice loot at the end, which includes several ghosttouchweapons, an eternal wand of cure minor wounds for quick stabilizing of party members and a really nice robe for Wizards and Sorcerers called the Robe of Duality. Those are the gems, but there are many more valuable upgrades for all manner of classes. Continue Reading
And we’re back for the culmination of the three-part series. After a full trouncing of five of the eight bosses by the end of Episode 1.2, The B Team has its heart set on ruining Twilight Lord Kelris’ meditation and proceeding to the “hidden” boss of Blackfathom Deeps, Aku’mai. No amount of platforming hopping, swimming or water breathing will hold this crew back.
Death, well, that’s a different story. But a break for a crab dinner may be in order as we discuss who the hell the hot naga is that Kelris is communing with.
The second part of any three-part series is sluggish. Viewers have already been introduced to the characters and everyone knows there’s another installment coming, so nothing is going to be finalized. To keep the audience captive, creators enjoy wrapping character development in a neat sandwich of action. Consumers have their experience of Part 2 bookended with memorable pieces, while they subconsciously absorb a deeper understanding for the hero/heroine in the “boring part.”
In a nutshell (too many food analogies?), that’s exactly the experience that Episode 1.2 of Blackfathom Deeps will deliver. You’ll be engrossed by the excellent use of Life Tap and bemused by the shamans ability to never run out of mana while barely healing. All while listening to the tank tell every mob what it can and cannot do during pulls.
The B Team couldn’t stand NKOTBSB getting all the attention, so we got back together during the holiday break to rid the world of more evil. Mordil, pixiestixy and iTZKooPA teamed up with two pugs (who had no idea what they were getting in to) to tackle Blackfathom Deeps. It just so happens that BFD has the honors of popping iTZKooPA’s instance cherry.
Let’s see how much he, and the rest of the crew, enjoys it the second time around. Or just watch as Ghamoo-Ra, every hunters favorite tanking pet, out does the group’s “tank.”
In these troubling economic times everyone could use a helping hand. Turbine is during its part by offering two lucky players 100,000 Turbine points! The truly obscene amount of virtual cash can’t save your house, car, job or state of mind, but it can distract you from all those hardships by letting you purchase everything in DDO or LotRO.
What’s even better is how you enter your name into the drawing. If you’re new to the games, signing up is all you need to do. Just make sure you do it between December 1st and December 31st. For those in the Instance Gratification group and other current players, all we need to do is login to the website and mosey on over to the contest page (LotRO contest page). Play both games? Then you can double your chance to win! The below prizes will be distributed to each community.
One 1st place winner: 100,000 Turbine Points to use within DDO/LotRO.
Two 2nd prize winners: a lifetime subscription to either game.
Five 3rd place winners: 1,000 Turbine Points.
An insanely lucrative free contest for a pair of free-to-play games. What’s not to love?
In this episode of Instance Gratifications, join the Lore Hounds for their first adventure into one of DDO’s adventure packs. We chose the Catacombs adventure pack and spent a good couple of hours winding through the catacombs and experiencing some new content.
Here, view the highlights as we slash our way through an easy mode, then ramp up the difficulty to hard mode for a greater challenge. We won’t give away everything, but this content featured some great storylines with returning characters and a diverse round of level designs. Take a look.
Coming up, we’re planning to move to a monthly model for running Instance Gratification. We’ll post up the details for our December run once we’ve set a date — so keep watching the site for those details.

Join iTZKooPA, Juggynaut, and Heartbourne for this MMOcast. This weeks topics are:
E3 2010: The Contest is closing on August 31. An executive decision will be made if three people don’t find the glasses, so submit your entry no matter what!
Discussion: Do you enjoy knowing exactlywhat a class does by its title, or would you rather a spicy name, something original, like many of the Warhammer Onlinecareers?
Forget what I said a few tweets ago. After receiving an entire handful of upset/disgruntled/angry/sad tweets I have decided to pull iTZKooPA out of summer retirement. The large cleric that could will be returning to lead the seventh episode of Instance Gratification: DDO tomorrow at 12:00 PM (noon) EST.
As always, Khyber is the server of choice. Be sure to complete the tutorial area and dungeon before go time. That means you should have at least arrived at the Harbor of Stormreach. Level 4 is recommended. The group is still in need of a tank. There is plenty of time between now and Sunday for a new player to join the group so please do.
Shoot me a tweet or drop a comment in this post if you want to be in the top six. I will be running on my warforged cleric (iTZKooPA). Supplies of DDO Point cards are still available to those that attend thanks to the break!
