Neverwinter Founder’s Packs Detailed and Purchasable

On Monday, Perfect World Entertainment announced a few details about the upcoming beta weekends for Neverwinter, Cryptic’s upcoming Dungeons and Dragons MMORPG. This announcement included the now  free-to-play standard feature of pre-purchasable Founders Packs that contain a variety of ingame items and access to the beta weekends. Further details and the ability to purchase said packs were expected yesterday, but due to “a few traps and several goblins,” the storefront was delayed and didn’t open until just this morning.

There was a great deal of flak and hostility directed toward the Packs as posters declared them overpriced garbage. Hit the jump to see the specifics of each pack, and judge for yourself whether they are worth the dollar signs.

I announced in my previous post, there will be 3 Neverwinter beta weekends: February 8-10, March 8-10 and March 22-24, and that hasn’t changed. What has changed in regards to the beta weekends is the amount of information on who will have access to which weekend. They are slowly updating the list of who gets in when, so if you’ve got a key and are in a category that hasn’t been detailed yet, just keep checking!

As seems to be the standard, there are 3 levels of packs, priced at $19.99, $59.99, and $199.99.

The $19.99 Starter Pack:

  • +1 Amulet of Protection, 1 per account.
  • Small Bag of Holding – 12 extra inventory slots, 1 per character.
  • Adventurer’s Helper Pack (detailed below), 1 per account.

About Pherephassa 213 Articles
Pherephassa has been creeping around the etherspace long enough to have remorted so often that not even she can recall her original form. She loves sandboxes, challenges, chain mail bikinis and dungeons so large they take weeks, months or even years to fully explore. Currently seeking an MMO home, she can often be found on the side of the road, begging game designers for death penalties and slow leveling curves.
