The third game in Nexon’s “Future of Free” campaign going on at this year’s E3 at booth No. 635 is Dungeon Fighter Online which officially launched in North America today with Act 1: Warriors Unleashed.
DFO is another free-to-play MMO that boasts more the 200 million players worldwide. DFO is a blend of arcade-style beat ‘um up with engaging RPG elements to create a unique mix that makes it an MMO very much set apart from the pack.
Like the rest of Nexon’s line up, DFO has a Japanime style to it, avatars looking much like those found in King of Fighters games or other similar titles. The obvious is included in DFO as well, a grouped world to explore with other players called Arad, specified character skills and advancements, questing and loot, loot, loot.
The low-resolution graphics may turn some people off, especially compared with the awesome animations, detailed environments and character models of their other two games showing at E3. Yet, there is a simple understatement to the graphics that hearkens back to old-school fighters, something the game is very akin to in many respects.
DFO has been described as “everything [to] love about arcade games, but with the advantages of online interaction.” Which is shaping up to be very true with its in-depth MMO game mechanics but classic button mashing, combo-brawler tactics.
DFO offers the following classes:
Fighter: Your typical hand-to-hand melee master.
Gunner: Your ranged hero, using, you guessed it, guns instead of bows.
Mage: The classic spell casting wizard.
Priest: Healer and group aide/buffer.
Slayer: A demonic character with a possessed arm that summons forth his dark power similar to a Necromancer.
Every class has skills that pertain to it specifically (no, really!) but a neat twist is that at levels 18 and 48 you get the option to add a subclass to your character’s wrap sheet. Like other MMO’s, skill points are added when you gain a level and you can use the points to beef up different aspects of your character..
NPC’s are numerous and provide funny text and have lots of its at their disposal. Nexon is even taking this a step further by scheduling to record voice-over to all the dialog sometime next week and later, add it to the game world.
As for other elements of the game, PvP is all about dueling characters in Street Fighter-style combat. Towns and cities are open, but as for dungeons, they have a four player max and all dungeons are instanced. All instances have four difficulty levels and change each time you enter them adding a lot of replay value to each. At the end of a dungeon, a skill score is shown and randomly generated rewards are given depending on how you did. But don’t worry, loot also drops from monster along the way so its not all just waiting to finish.
On a surprising note, DFO is doing better than WoW in China and also has stellar numbers in Korea. Thus, the North American launch is expected to be big. Also, as the game is already finished in its home countries, Nexon is primarily working on simple translation efforts, so all the content will be available from the on-set of its launch today.
If you have already been playing the North American beta rest assured that your character will be transferred over in its entirerty.

I think you need to edit this column for many reasons.

Those numbers are nothing but extremely over exaggerated. Worldwide… 200 million players?! LMAO YEAH RIGHT! If there were 200 Million players this game wouldn’t be impossible to party in half the damn time. Worldwide??? Europe, Australia, and China can’t play! There is an IP Block that stops anyone outside of America and Canada from playing.

Well seeing as how this game came from Korea I wouldn’t expect less.

Well after China’s lil stunt with a copy of WoW I wouldn’t think they are doing too well either. Also wtf is china doing playin our version!? I thought we were IP Blocked!
That’s all.
i think they’re including kdnf, cdnf, tdnf, and arad in the 200mil worldwide. anyways it seems the only one with ip block is dfo and arad (arad only ip blocks usa everyone else can play)
afroman is pretty stupid. if WoW is considered worldwide yet japanese don’t play with american. why can’t the same be true with this game? they said it’s more popular in china than wow, and china has the largest population of anywhere. so what if 100 of that 200 mil was from china? what if more? i wonder if he’s a WoW fanboy too… an idiot either way though..
anyway it was out in asia way before here. so if UPON RELEASE its 200m already… that means that most of them, regardless, are not in the united states…
Afroman is dumb as hell, YES there are 200 MILLION players worldwide, they aren’t all on the same version, each country has its own modified version of the game, making it possible to have so many players, and since the 200 million mark has been reached, their numbers have only gone up. DFO is OFFICIALLY the worlds BIGGEST game, it blows away WoW’s 15 or 10 million out of the water.
Also, the column sucks, “Slayer: A demonic character with a possessed arm that summons forth his dark power similar to a Necromancer.” … The slayer uses SWORDS! He is NOT a necromancer! Does this look like a necromancer to you? http://images.mmosite.com/dfo/images/info/class/swordman/weapon.png THIS is a necromancer. http://images.epilogue.net/users/jhoneil/necromancer.jpg
I played the japanese version hosten by han games. This game is really fun. It is VERY challenging and you won’t get the feeling of grinding…ever. The only problem I have with the version I am playing is that I do not know a japanese and it makes it hard to figure out what to do. I am hoping the european version is underway, since we europeans are IP blocked for DFO hosted by the north american Nexon. I do not see why this game is not here yet as Nexon normally gives europe the games after a certain time after setting up their own. Besides about slayers, at lvl 18 you can choose a subclass with their own set of skills. the “Dark power” mentioned comes from the subclass called asura that uses magic attacks with his katana/short sword in form of wave attacks also some powers using the demon arm ( for example the explosion attack of the energy orbs) those attacks are fabulous for getting enemies off you and is a godsend in pvp. The other three subclasses from the slayer tree are berserker, soulbender and blade master. From all of those, the berserker looks coolest with the red glowing eyes.
Jizaihou is a genius compared to Afroman.
To summarize, the standards presented listed right here are determinants from the excellent of demand around the currency, and for that cause it really is worth. You’ll discover additional aspects for instance manufacturing development, amount of entrepreneurship inside a country, employment growth, also because the components and it really is impact on the farming sector, energy consumption, and native economic systems. These may well also decide the interest in a currency. The requirements correct here establish the perception that the prospective purchaser of currency may well have. And right here, perception suggests almost everything. The way a possible purchaser in the currency examines a precise country with such parameters, determines the demand about the currency, and sooner or later it really is worth.
Today, while I was at work, my cousin stole my iPad and tested to see if it can survive a twenty five foot drop,
just so she can be a youtube sensation. My apple ipad is now destroyed and she has 83 views.
I know this is completely off topic but I had to share it with someone!
Hmm it seems like your blog ate my first comment (it was super long)
so I guess I’ll just sum it up what I wrote and say,
I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog. I too am an aspiring blog blogger but
I’m still new to everything. Do you have any tips for rookie blog writers?
I’d really appreciate it.
