MechWarrior Online’s Latest Jenner Skin in Honor of Cancer Victim

The game community is amazing. We’re creative, dedicated, opinionated, passionate and, as Child’s Play has shown repeatedly, incredibly charitable. That charity spreads from consumers to journalists to developers. Infinite Games Publishing and Piranha Games are the most recent example of the latter.

The company announced a new custom chassis for the Champion Jenner mech in MechWarrior Online. Dubbed “Sarah’s Mech,” the colorful and highly decaled machine was created for one young Canadian mech pilot Sarah Marie Alida Parries. The five-year-old, who played MwO with her father, recently lost her battle with cancer.

Why a Jenner? “Because she liked to move fast, lock on, and liked using night vision,” according to her father. All proceeds of the $10 skin will go directly to the Canadian Cancer Society through August 20, 2013. As of press time, the counter shows the promotion less than $100 away from breaking $29,000.

“Sarah’s passion for ‘Mechs and her battle with cancer had a profound impact everyone at Piranha,” said Russ Bullock, president of Piranha Games. “She was an inspiration with her passion and energy for the game and our hearts and deepest condolences go out to her family. The outpouring of heartfelt sympathy from the MechWarrior community and the support and encouragement we’ve received to develop this unique ‘Mech has been nothing short of incredible. We have the best fans in the world.”

In addition to the custom paint job, the Sarah’s mech will be emboldened by a 10% XP boost. The custom skin is only available until August 20, 2013.
