Age of Wulin Sects & Associated Combat Styles Revealed

There's a lot of sects!

Age of Wulin, the upcoming martial arts MMORPG from Gala Network Europe had me doing a double take when it revealed its sects, the title’s version of factions. The free-to-play title is to feature eight sects for players to select from, each with a unique fighting style based upon its alignment.

The Shaolin, Wudang, Emei, Beggars’ sect round out the “good” side, fighting in such classic styles of strong melee capabilities backed by honorable weapons like swords, quarterstaffs and daggers. The “bad” side is stocked by the likes of Blissful Valley and Royal Guards, featuring stealth assaults, traps and bladed weaponry. The “neutral” sects feature nothing in common, offering distinct abilities, styles and weaponry. The Tang Clan are focused on damage absorption and unleashing negative buffs on their enemies and don hidden weapon techniques. Players from the Scholar’s Academy are proficient with a dance-like kicking style and thin swords, allowing them to take on multiple foes at once.

The only common factor between the sects is true of many martial artists, supreme body control. Each player will possess passives called ‘Light-Body Skills’ that will enable them to scale walls, leap through the air and walk on water. Except plenty of breathtaking acrobatics combining the movement and combat abilities.

Age of Wulin will be available in 2012. Hit the jump for a flipshow of combat in action.
