There’s a chance that you haven’t heard of Snail Game, let alone the US-based arm Snail Games USA. The company, founded in 2000, hasn’t made too much of a name for itself in the West. It was largely off the radar until the release of Ministry of War (aka Terra Militaris), so few would fault you. Until recently.
The company nailed it earlier this year with Age of Wushu (aka Age of Wulin), the fantastical martial arts epic based upon Chinese fiction known as wuxia. It’s been so successful that the Jet Li-backed project is expanding. Dramatically.
Today, Snail Game revealed that the intellectual property is going to go further than a the previously announced expansion. In addition, gamers can expect cross platform access on mobile and console devices. Further, and most surprising, is the plan to take Age of Wushu to the silver screen.
Snail Games founder Shi Hai explained that AoW “plays like a major martial arts motion picture, so bringing the property to movie screens is a logical evolution.”
Well, he’s got a point.
