Ever feel that there was a serious lack of zombies in the multiplayer online battle arena genre? Deep Silver, creator of indie franchise darling Dead Island, certainly thought so. The company announced today that it’s hard at work on its first MOBA, dubbed ZOMBA for zombie online multiplayer battle arena, set for release in the near future.
The title’s full reveal is slated for Gamescom 2013, which kicks off on August 21 for press types. Until then details will remain scarce. What we do know is that the latest extension to the Dead Island intellectual property will feature the staples of the DI experience. In addition, the game will pit three teams against each other instead of the near-universal number of two.
Dead Island: Epidemic will be Deep Silver’s first foray into the free-to-play genre. Dead Island: Riptide was not as well received as the original zombie FPS. We’ll have more as it comes.
