MOBA Monday is a weekly showcase of how to perform, eh, let’s go with adequately – we hope – in a massive online battle arena. The streaming squad features the hottest, upcoming or most interesting titles of their and the communities fancy for a few rounds of PvP shenanigans inour weekly Twitch channel staple.
The latest F2P Fridaywent off with a hitch, you couldn’t see my adorable mug. Actually, it was a couple of hitches, including video quality, sound quality, game performance and my inability to do a single thing correct while playing Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft. As such, I’m glad it’s time for MOBA Monday. Sure, the equipment and Internet connection remains the same, but I’ve had time to correct those issues I have control over, purchase a new Logitech headset and test game performance ahead of time.
Today’s experiment is also one that I hope increases my self esteem. SMITE has been a strong suit for me since early beta testing in 2012 and that hasn’t really changed. This is despite playing numerous gods with little regard for having any experience with them or their item builds.
Exactly the kind of learning curve that isn’t too apparent in today’s other game, Heroes of the Storm. The unique gameplay design by Blizzard to focus more on team play, up to and including shared experience, regeneration globes and map objectives and the complete removal of item builds radically alters the community. Any player with knowledge of MOBA tropes and design can quickly find a heroes niche, select the appropriate skills and hold their own. I hope this holds true for this week’s god rotation.
