The rise of SMITE from Georgia-based Hi-Rez Studios has been quick. The firm had a small booth presence and Global Agenda a few PAXs ago. Now, the firm and its upcoming god-based MOBA SMITE are not only part of a much, much larger TwitchTV booth, but they ran a $20,000 invite only tournament during the entire show. Yeah, all four days.
I caught up with COO Todd Harris early on in the show to discuss the tournament, early favorites, the move into the Asian eSports scene and plenty of things outside of the eSports scene. Todd dished the details on the title’s transformation since 2011, including the Conquest overhaul, upcoming 10v10 match of the day settings and even the release date.
