Exclusive Interview: Game of Thrones Ascent Selling MMO Players on a Facebook Game

Be forewarned, the interviewer of this video is an immense nerd. An avid reader of all literature and avid player of nearly any video game, platform agnostic, the nerd reached his maximum threshold at the combination of a video game meshing MMOG and strategy elements with the deep, character driven universe of the A Song of Fire and Ice series (Game of Thrones to the HBO nuts).

To say “That escalated quickly” would be an understatement of iTZKooPA’s unbridled excitement.

Upon a less-than-professional recovery, Product Manager Scott Triola begins the arduous task of selling a Facebook game to a serial MMO player. Diving into the connected story, deep RPG components including skill trees and moral choices and city-building aspects are sure to draw in gamers. While a deep connection to the on-going HBO series, including weekly updates as Season 3 progresses, should sell those purely interested in consuming everything and anything Game of Thrones.

SDCC 2012: Game of Thrones Seven Kingdoms Trailer Is A Reality

Bipoint has made good on its promise to release the first trailer for Game of Thrones Seven Kingdoms during San Diego Comic Con. Based on the HBO series of the same name, which is based upon the A Song of Fire & Ice series by George R.R. Martin, Seven Kingdoms will allow players to experience key turning points in the award-winning franchise.

Bigpoint has just begun talking about the game making details pretty scarce. What we do know is that the title is set after the culmination of Season 1. Season 2 recently wrapped. Furthermore, Bigpoint and collaborating developer Artplant will be producing the F2P game using the Unity engine.

Bigpoint did disclose a release window this time around. The wide open range “early 2013.”

Game of Thrones Seven Kingdoms Announced, Trailer Coming During SDCC

Gamers and Game Of Thrones fans have known that an MMORPG based upon the HBO show has been in the works at Bigpoint for awhile. Today, the developer revealed official details on the tie-in for the first time. Titled Game of Thrones Seven Kingdoms, the title is a F2P MMORPG set in the Game of Thrones universe created by HBO.

“Selecting a game’s title can be quite an arduous process, especially in the free-to-play space where games must be easily discoverable by players around the world,” said Max Pfaff, Producer, Bigpoint. “By selecting Game of Thrones Seven Kingdoms we’re confident that we’ve chosen an identifiable name that will resonate with the global community of diehard Thrones fans.”

Hit the jump for the trio of screenshots hinting at the graphical fidelity delivered by the Unity engine that the upcoming trailer will highlight. There’s also details to, you know, the plot and gameplay behind the cut.
