After having found the Stranger, Deckard began his polite interrogation. The Stranger responded that the last things he remembered was him falling and fire. This made me wonder where the fire came from, unless he fell at such a huge speed he himself would’ve been on fire. He remembered a sword as well. A sword of great power, this sword was part of him, but during the fall it shattered into three pieces. Deckard made the inference that we should find these pieces and make the sword whole again. That this sword might be the artifact we need to restore the memory of this Stranger. Leah interjected, telling us that the resident goatmen have been rampaging through the fields. She wondered if the sword has anything to do with that. Deckard seemed to have put the puzzle pieces together as he immediately tells Leah that she might be right. After seeing my puzzled look he explained to me that the dead rose around the Stranger, if the sword is truly a part of him it might explain the goatmen suddenly driving them to madness. For me it made sense and gave me an excuse to try out my new equipment. I told them I would hunt these goatmen. Locating the sword seemed to be just a bonus to ending their terror. Continue Reading

I continued my search for the Skeleton King inside the Royal Crypts. After having fought a trope of skeletons I found a glowing sword. I was intrigued, I had never seen a sword glow like this. Before I knew it I had the finely crafted weapon in my hands. The moment I touched the sword I felt a magic power come forth. Before my eyes six spirits were created. Five of the men looked like royal guards, the other, a king. At that moment I realized what this was, a history lesson. This sword was showing me the last moments of King Leoric. One of the five royal guards walked forward and told the rest to keep distance that this was his burden to bear. When this spirit started talking I realized who it was, Lachdanan. Lachdanan said that he hoped that death would bring peace to the madness of Leoric. As he finished his sentence he plunged his sword through his liege. Continue Reading

After helping Headrig put his wife to rest and receiving the reforged crown in return, I went to Deckard to tell him the news. Deckard Cain was pleased, telling me that with this crown I can unlock the sealed door in the room where I rescued Deckard. According to the scholar, behind this door would lay the Royal Crypts containing the Skeleton King. Cain informed me that when I found him I needed to place the crown on top of the is head, bringing him to life…only to destroy him. It was the only way to acquire the Fallen Star. As I turned toward my new assignment Cain detailed that the way inside the Cathedral was filled with more monstrosities. Nothing I wasn’t used to yet or my two-hander couldn’t handle. “Deckard Cain told me that the Skeleton King was once their beloved lord, Leoric and that he was driven mad by Diablo’s evil. He lost both of his sons, and his very soul, before he was finally defeated. Now it seems he has risen again. I told Deckard that I found it a sad tale but that I am seeking the fallen star and that the Skeleton King is standing in my way. Deckard explained that the key to defeating him lies in his old crow. He told me to seek out their blacksmith, Haedrig. That he would know the whereabouts. Deckard and Leah then began to discuss among themselves. Deckard seems to think that Leah is taking all of this too lightly and that the Horadric scrolls spoke of the dead rising and the Lord of Lies and that the Prophecy of the End Days says that at the end of all things the first sign shall appear in the heavens. Leah, in return, agrees that horrors indeed have walked in Tristram but that her uncle should not read so much into the scrolls. Continue Reading

“I told Leah to come along with me to go search for her uncle. She said that we’ll need to open the cathedral first, the guards locked it up before they were ambushed by these creatures. Rumford told Leah that they fought their way back to Adria’s hut. Leah expects the key will still be there. We used the old portal system to quickly travel back to The Old Ruins. Leah apparently had the key to open the gate towards Adria’s hut. Maybe I should watch out for traps. Leah told me that Adria was her mother, but that she didn’t know more than that. Adria died when Leah was very young, she was raised by her uncle, Deckard Cain. I wondered about her father, Leah told that he was a great warrior who was lost when Tristram fell to the demons.” Continue Reading

“I asked the guard captain how I could help them fight these undead creatures. Rumford admired my courage, but warned me that Captain Daltyn and his militia were slaughtered by these things and that he was the only one who survived. I gave it some thought; I would avenge his fallen warriors, for that is the honorable thing to do. He gave an agreeing nod and told me that I needed to strike down the so called Wretched Mothers and their Queen. Apparently those creatures vomit up the other undead creatures I have been seeing.
At that moment the barricade was attacked again. I quickly helped them dispatch the enemies. At that moment Rumford pointed out one of these Wretched Mothers. From a distance these creatures looked like handmaidens and as I got closer, it started to vomit up some of these undead creatures, which turned by stomach. Before I left Rumford told me one last thing, to find this queen I needed to follow the road to the Old Ruins. Continue Reading

“I heard about a star falling in New Tristram. The dead were rising; was this what I searched for? A foe worthy of my blade?
As I walked down the road towards the village of New Tristram I saw a dead body on the side of the road, nothing new for me, but knowing that the dead rise in these parts I kept a close eye on the body. As I kept traveling this road I saw the first of these risen dead; it attacked me on sight, my axe flew fast through the air and struck the creature, killing it. I must watch out though, because I see more of these creatures in the distance. Continue Reading
