Warhammer 40,000: Heads to Phase 2, Combat Demo Coming in October

Progress is slow on the upcoming Warhammer 40,000 action-oriented MMORPG, but Behaviour Interactive is doing a good job at keeping fans of the Games Workshop property informed. The company recently updated the Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade website with Phase 2. The second phase expands the knowledge base, adding the first details to the iconic Space Marines and a list of the four playable races.

If you’re a fan of previous Warhammer 40k games, such as the excellent RTS franchise Dawn of War, or the tabletop, you can probably guess the upcoming races. The space marines will be represented in both flavors, the standard Space Marines and Chaos Space Marines, those corrupted by the Warp. Other foes include the brutal hordes of the Orks and the space elves, I mean Eldar.

Missing you favorite? Want to tear it up as a Tyranid? Strike fear into the hearts of you opponent as Necrons or expand the Tau sphere of influence? Fear not, with the Emperor’s blessing more races are intended after launch.

The title may not be coming for over two years, but the run up to the end of 2015 will include a variety of milestones for fans to enjoy. For instance, an early combat demo is planned for release this October. Before the year is out, Behavior plans on demonstrating the massive battles planned for Eternal Crusade.

Until such time, enjoy the wallpapers beyond the cut. We’ll have more coverage as it comes.
